Timely's Secrets
Steve knew the west was a dangerous place, but he thought he would have had more time before crying over Bucky's grave or vice versa. He thought they had some luck in their pockets.
So it wasn't.
When Fisk's man brought a scalped body to his door, dressed like Bucky, Steve had his doubts, but couldn't do anything if not accept that Bucky was gone.
Natasha, their friend and wife of Bucky to cover for his and Steve's relationship, had been heartbroken as well.
Fisk's men said it was the indians' fault. Natasha believed them.
Steve couldn't.
There weren't enough proof to say that and anyway, there weren't enough to appoint anyone in particular.
Steve's hands were bound.
Two years after, Fisk's men started showing up killed and Bucky's horse disappeared from her stall.
Steve started to investigate.
He didn't find the murderer but uncovered a secret plan of Fisk to get the indians out of their territory to exploit it because of something called petroleum, all thanks to a dam.
Fisk found out at some point, and if initially tried to dissuade Steve to keep on putting his nose in Fisk's business, then sent out killers to get rid of him.
Steve was sure he was going to die there, on the soil of the principal road that cut Timely in half, but someone showed up before it was too late. A savior came to save him, Timely's people and the indians.
Steve just couldn't believe who that savior was.
A story inspired both by Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Lone Ranger. Based on Marvel "1872: Warzones!" run.
(Declaimer: the language used here is the same as the comic, contextualized in the period. Indians is not at all the right way to call Natives American. Refrain to use it in normal conversation.)
