Okay, what I really want to know is: Is Bay to Breakers a real thing???

YES!!! It is an annual just-for-fun run across the city that takes place every summer and starts out near the Transbay Terminal (a public transit where BART crosses into the East Bay) to Golden Gate Park. True to SF credo, the participants often wear funny costumes and great really drunk in the streets of the city. In fact, Mark's comment about the woman in the bridal gown is the only thing relating to San Francisco in the film that makes any sense.
