Hello Citizens of the Blogosphere,

Since I wasn’t able to attend SD Comic Con this year, I decided to celebrate my nerdiness in another way-by engaging in some awesome comic book craft time!

Last time I did a comic book craft on my blog, it turned out pretty cool.  If you missed it, you can check it out by clicking on the picture below.

Nerdy DIY: Comic Book Lamp Shade

 This time around, I wanted to do something even more unique.

And thus, this mixed media geek-tar was born.

Let’s begin.

This is what I started with. An acoustic guitar, comic book scraps, and Modpodge.

Applying the scraps to the guitar using Modpodge and a foam brush.

Letting the guitar dry in between coats.

Cleaning up the edges with an X-acto knife.

I found this awesome image from my Comic Con program from 2010 and I just had to use it. 

Getting ready to start painting.

Applying acrylic paint to the guitar. Red, Black and Dark Blue.

Detailing using metallic markers.

Adding paint to the front.

Isn’t she pretty in her case?

I really enjoyed this project and I was pretty happy with the results.

Now all I have to do is learn how to play the guitar. :)
