Patchwork Wings. I’ve been experimenting with text and images recently. Some pieces have poems embedded into the artwork. This one reads:
They told her she couldn’t, would never, and no
And tore her dreams to shreds,
and stomped them to the ground.
So she gathered the shards
Lovingly in her arms,
And with a thread of hope from her own heart,
She stitched them back together.
And with a leap of faith,
She soared on her patchwork wings of dreams,
And rose above them all.
Signed, numbered 11″ x 14″ print, Colored pencil.
The Woods Witch. A misunderstood fairy. She seems dark and mysterious, maybe even evil-- but she’s not bad, just misunderstood. Her poem reads:
Frogs and salamanders were drawn to her,
As she is draw to the deep, soft, shadowy places of the forest.
Or the way fungi was drawn to the felled trees.
What did it matter if others couldn’t understand?
“Come, Ebonshaft”, she called to her sable-cloaked companion.
The raven came, as drawn to her as the frogs and fungi.
The sunlight dappled the ground.
She had learned long ago her love of the quiet, dark places of the forest
her need for quiet, her affinity for the animals and creatures of the dark, damp places,
would brand her as strange, fearsome, some thing otherworldly, a being
whose relationship with the woods would be misunderstood.
