Superman: Son of Kal-El #11
I’m loving this Superman book. The stakes are reset to zero, so Taylor can build up the threats as Jon levels up. Taylor also gets to recontextualize the Superman in a way that isn’t yet another alternate Earth version of him. Jon is reinventing what Superman means for the next DC generation so, for me, there’s finally some momentum in Superman storytelling. SUPERMAN!
Justice League Vs. the Legion of Superheroes #3
I’m literrally only picking up this book due to loyalty to the Legion. I haven’t read issue 2 yet. I really don’t like Bendis’s writing. He’s been shielded so far because he’s rebooted the Legion yet again so he doesn’t really need to understand the characters at all, but adding the JL crowds the cast of the book and prevents him from nailing any new characterization. His Legion has been disappointing so far. Ryan Sook was the only redeeming factor, but he’s not on this book.
