With the hype surrounding this title I was hoping for another progressive title in this #deathmetal event. Touted as the 1st appearance of the Robin King, 1st full appearance of the Darkest Knight, this book was nothing but good. The #robinking origin and first appearance was uninspired, senseless, and poorly rendered. For the origin, I don’t even get why he dubbed himself the “Robin King”. The Darkest Knight story was good the best in the book, a great start to an otherwise awe full book. The other four stories were thankfully short, silly, and completely unnecessary. This book should have received a 2 out of 5 but the collectibility due to several key introductions makes it a 3 out of 5. Hello! I was linked to your blog by a friend of mine just yesterday, and have been reading the posts for a while. I was wondering...Have you heard of the female Series 8 director that was just announced? Her name is Rachel Talalay, and she's directed movies (Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare) and has directed episodes of Supernatural, Haven, and Continuum. It may not fix Moffat's misogyny, but do you think it's a step in the right direction? ~Copper

Well, she obviously hasn't managed to fix Supernatural's misogyny, so I doubt she'd have an impact on Doctor Who.

My reaction to this news is, basically, more female directors are a good thing, but they aren't a replacement for female writers (which are conspicuously absent from Moffat'sshows) - ideally we'd like female writers and directors working on a show.

(I just looked up the Supernatural episode she directed. It was Hunted, the one with the evil scary black man tyring to kill the white protagonist(s). I wouldn't hold this episode up as remotely progressive.)

So as long as her episodes aren't as racist as her Supernatural episode then yes, this may be a step in the right direction, but it depends on her episode.
