Real Birthday
I don't know the real birthday of Joker, and I think he also can't remember his birthday.
(If my writing is incomprehensible. I'm sorry for my English skills T^T💦)
Does anyone want to know what Batman gives to Joker? 👀✨

Ok I didn’t really think that much about it at first but. Reminder that it is extremely bad behavior for a working professional to go find a random person on a random forum and blast them to 37k followers by deleting his Twitter for an hour, which was clearly done to get attention and make everyone beg him to come back. He pinned their username to his page! This forum person didn’t even tag him in anyway! Fans are under no obligation to like anyone’s art, and they weren’t even being particularly mean! It’s pathetic.
Dexter Soy is showing less professionalism than a teenager working retail has to and I hope he can get his head out of his ass one day long enough to feel bad about it. Maybe his art isn’t a crime (though you know what, it’s telling that no one defending him is using his Nightwing art) but this behavior should be.

i just saw you’re working on a unified theory of bat-fanon! I think you’re on the money with the patchwork fandom theory. But I think it cannot be understated how much the new 52 broke comics fandom at the time, in a way that (i believe) trapped parts of bat-fanon in amber. The new 52 was so disappointing, and so much of the fun and complex continuity erased, that a lot of fans HAD to retreat to the first half of 2011 for a long time if they wanted to write about their favorite characters, who may or may not have even existed in the new 52 at the time. (Good luck on your fandom scholarship!)
thank you! i really appreciate this ask! what you said about the New 52's impact touched on a few things i've been thinking a lot about. i've noticed that the New 52 seems to have impact the development of bat fanon in two different ways.
the first way is like you said: a lot of bat fanon seems to be stuck in a post-crisis, post-canon timeline. for example, characters often have their late post-crisis mantles—tim is red robin, cass is black bat (and in hong kong), damian is newly robin, jason is red hood but on the outs with the bat family, etc.
in fact, as i started to look at older fan works i've noticed that a lot of authors specifically referred to their works as being a continuation of post-crisis, or as taking place the "preboot" universe, but "being a few years later," etc.
the second way is that a lot of fanon seems to come from nu52 comics themselves. for example, jason being "tim's robin" is a BIG thing in batman fanon. now, anyone who has read tim's post-crisis origin story & comics will tell you that dick grayson was his inspiration & they had a very close brotherly relationship!! However, tim's nu52 origin gives a different impression.
for example, in Secret Origins (2014) #3 there's a scene where tim talks to jason's portrait and says that he wants to "make [jason] proud."
in Teen Titans (2011) #16, we have tim says that jason is the closest thing he has to a brother.
so naturally, people started to produce fanworks that showed tim & jason being a lot closer. and we can't really call that dynamic "fanon" because that was the canon during that time.
what i think we started to see in the creation of batman fanon during the 2010s is a mashup of post-flashpoint comics and post-crisis continuity. this is how we get stories where tim is living next to wayne manor (post-crisis), but he idolizes jason (nu52). we get stories where cass is called black bat (end of post-crisis), but she wants to perform ballet (rebirth).
and it really comes back to the patchwork fics concept i was talking about, but this time with different comic continuities rather than adaptations. the conflict here is that a lot of post-crisis & post-flashpoint comics are really contradictory!! tim drake was straight up a different guy. so was cass! when you try to meld who they were during post-crisis and who they were in the nu52 or rebirth it gets really discordant. and you end up with a fanon character that is sometimes unrecognizable.
sorry this took a lot of time to answer. i cut out a few other examples of continuity mashes, because this was getting too long, but once you look for it there are so many instances of fanon that i think got their start from a New 52 era panel that was taken out of context. this post doesn't even touch on the tumblr of it all either, but this is what i got for now. as always, i'm curious to know what anyone else thinks!
It’s fascinating how different the experience of seeing someone hate on your favourite character is, depending on the character’s standing.
My favourite Marvel character is Foggy Nelson. If someone hates on him, it’s bad. So bad. Because it’s nothing but helpless fury I feel. You hate him? You think he is useless? He should disappear? Fuck, half the Marvel writers probably agree with you and depending on the next head writer you asshole Foggy Nelson hater might get your wish. You actually already did if only in the TV adaptation.
My favourite DC character is Dick Grayson. Seeing someone hate on him is whatever. Oh, you hate him? You think he is unnecessary, maybe even *redundant* (iykyk)? You wish he disappeared? He, heart and linchpin of the DC universe? That’s so interesting. Get well soon! ❤️
Being a non-American DC comics fan is sooo hard, like…
What do you mean comics issues are SO hard to find… and even better, why can’t we have those one dollar comic books trees…
Comic twitter really is home of the dumbest morons alive. One panel from an upcoming issue gets leaked, the website freaks out and has a little meltdown because “mY fAvOrItE cHaRaCtEr HaS bEeN RuInEd FoReVeR”, and then the issue comes out and it turns out to be literally nothing.
This happens every week. And they are so so stupid.
