If Warner Bros. can release completely superfluous retcons like BvS’s Ultimate Edition or the Director’s Cut of Suicide Squad, then we better fucking get like a, Justice League: Mustache Edition.

At least give us the pleasure of seeing Henry Cavill’s facial hair in all of it’s glory.

No dood. We get what it’s meaning and it’s significance within the context of the “story” was. The reason people are still cracking BvS jokes about the Martha Scene, isn’t because Zack Snyder, David Goyer and Chris Terrio somehow created an “avant-garde, uber-intelligent” scene that defies the “meager intelligence” of those who simply don’t or can’t understand the “genius” of Zack Snyder, it’s because said scene was set up so poorly and executed in such a blunt, obtuse manner that any sort of dramatic weight and characterization it could’ve had was immediately lost. 

Not to mention the fact that what little character development and meaning it did successfully garner ends up being undercut when it’s proceeded by a scene where Batfleck just kills off a bunch of goons. 

Stop pretending that the Internet and comic community’s forced and primarily unfunny  jokes about this one badly-executed scene is somehow indicative of people not “getting” BvS and Zack Snyder’s directing as a whole. There’s nothing wrong with liking BvS or liking Snyder as a director, but acting like the numerous critiques and jokes made at the expense of his filmography are somehow either an organized conspiracy against him and the DCEU, or a sign of some sort of intellectual or artistic deficiencies is just embarrassing. It’s okay to admit that shit you like is dumb, everyone likes dumb shit. 

Trying to elevate properties that are inherently dumb or poorly made and rejecting any sort of critiques against them doesn’t magically erase all of the problems of said property, it’s just overcompensation. Like what you like, in the end what matters is your happiness and satisfaction, just don’t be a pretentious weenie about it, Christ.

In defense of Adam Ellis

Whoa. I know, stay with me. Hear, hear me out: I don’t think Adam Ellis is that bad, at least not nearly as bad as say, Tim Buckley. Can he be a bit of a dick sometimes? Yeah, definitely, but hey, we’re all human, we’ve all said and done stupid shit. What matters is that we learn from those mistakes, acknowledge and apologize from them, and move on.  

Adam, like many comic-strip artists, suffers from being stuck in the repetitive, soulless, unfunny “content” creating machine that is Buzzfeed. It’s the system that’s the problem, Ellis is just a byproduct of it. 

And let’s be fair, I know that alot of the “hate” he gets here or on, I dunno, other platforms like the Bad Webcomics Wiki, are mostly tongue-in-cheek, lighthearted memes, but just to reiterate, Ellis hasn’t published anything that is inflammatory, bigoted, or offensive. Aside from like, one specific, really tone-deaf comic, Ellis at his very worst is just really unfunny, trite, and formulaic. Occasionally he’ll churn out something that is actually kinda funny and isn’t just “lemayo ecks dee look at how relatabull i am u guiiizzzz1!!1!”, and despite these occurrences being rare, it does show that to some degree, Ellis actually has a sense of humor. 

I dunno. I don’t really care for Ellis’ work, like most of the shit from Buzzfeed he’s just incredibly mediocre “content” that’s aimed to grab my attention by any means necessary and at this point in my life I’ve seen so much bad corporate media that I’ve grown immune to their shittyness. 

I guess I just wanted to.....prevent, any sort of unwarranted hate for a guy who, at the end of the day, just makes really unfunny comics.

For those of you going “Yaaay, Snyder isn’t directing JL anymore!” 1) Fuck you 2) It’s not worth it if it’s at the price of his daughter’s life and his family’s happiness and mental/emotional health 3) Joss Whedon isn’t the greatest director either, unless you’ve all forgotten Iron Man 4: Age of Ultron.

I just want November to come and go so the inevitable nightmare of forced, unfunny Joss Whedon quips and shitty mischaracterizations mixed with obvious, pretentiousness of Zack Snyder can be over and done.

Unfortunately, Zack Snyder's daughter, Autumn, committed suicide back in March, and as such he has taken a step back from directing to be with his family. No matter what your feelings are towards his work, please send him some love and support, he desperately needs it.

I pointed out how, despite how it’s my favorite of the Nolan Trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises is the worst one of the three and is really racist.

When I explained how it’s racist to inquiring DCEU stans, they proceeded to just laugh at me, without even providing any sort of counter argument.

And you guys wonder why people poke fun at you all the time.
