Who are the greatest do-everything talents in comics history? We mean the ones who write *and* draw (and maybe even ink and color) their stories. You could throw out names like Moebius, Frank Miller, Druillet, Chaykin, Bilal, Starlin, John Byrne, Mignola, Otomo… and others, but I t’s a tight club. And we think you have to include birthday boy Walter Simonson @walter.simonson.5 in that elite class. He made an impression on a lot of readers in the ‘80s with his run on Thor, though Heavy Metal faithful had already encountered him through his “Shakespeare for Americans” feature and the HM-published (and Archie Goodwin-scripted) Alien graphic novel he illustrated. Simonson has drawn just about every spandex-clad crime fighter but for pure unadulterated Walt check out his creator-owned properties Star Slammers and Ragnarök.
