Ok, it seems as if the 1d fandom is slowly down and you are not on this blog as much anymore. I want to thank you for your extremely well written fics. And since you have expressed interest have live reaction of your work. I am gonna spam your inbox for Here I Stand because it was the first fic I read of yours.

I know I’m forever late in responding to this, but I just wanted to say, anon, that getting these messages made a really shitty election night better. Seeing your reactions made me smile, which wasn’t easy that night, and I really really want to thank you for that. I’m not going to reply to all the messages because I want to be able to keep them in my inbox so I can keep seeing them, but I want to acknowledge how much this meant to me. oh I saw that fic writing meme and I wanna know ∞: something i wish i’d done differently for Here I Stand? :)

I wish I’d drawn out the ending more. After Liam comes out, and before he and zayn get together. That time–of Liam wooing Zayn, trying to get him back–goes far too quickly. I’d love to have gone more into Liam dealing with being out, and also convincing Zayn that he’s more than just a convenient body. Maybe even have had them start sleeping together and angsting over how they both thought it was just sex? Though I don’t think that zayn would have done that… Basically I wish I’d spent more time on the end. But by the time I got there when I was writing it I was too ready to be done and wrapped it up too quickly.

I never thought of that before but...wow, that’s so real! Zayn clearly read Here I Stand and decided to write a song about it. First he does shoots the clearly come from Slow Down, now this? It’s okay if you’re lurking Zayn. I understand. I hope you enjoyed.

i've honestly read the exchange sooo many times. sometimes i just open the fic and read that moment between zarry. my poor harry, but i also smile a little bc their love as friends is palpable even though they both ache. thanks for thAT IZZY

the bittersweet quality is absolutely what gets me the most. and harry's so understanding, and you can feel that z really does care for h, and my heart hurts for them but i'm also happy for ziam. i love both pairings in it. (good, h deserves that)

Their friendship really is so strong in it. Despite how much Zayn thinks Harry doesn’t get him, he really really does. He just gets what that means, too. And he’s so actually happy for Ziam, he really is, and it’s so lovely and generous and I do love him. 

(Is there secretly an AU of that AU where in ten years they come back and it ends Zarry? Maybe. But it’s not the canon of the fic, because that Ziam is wonderful too and they deserve each other in the best way)

like i know it's a ziam fic and the q isn't even about this but i still think daily about when they see the drawings and h gets all teary and whispers "it's enough" to z and hug and z kisses his temple bc he does love h just not that way. i legit die

In all honesty, I do too. I think the Zarry in that fic is the saddest thing I’ve ever written, because it’s one of those bittersweet ‘what could have been in another world’ things, where no one’s at fault it just is, and they really could have been good together. My poor Harry in that. He totally goes off to college and falls madly in love with someone great, though.

Hi! I'm going to come harass you about one of your fics - hope you don't mind. I was just curious as to why you cut off Here I Stand when you did. (I'm possibly super in love with that fic). Its not a criticism or anything but I'm dying to know what made you decide to end it right in the hall like that? Just curious, I swear!

No problem, i always love talking about my fics! So there are two answers to this, the artistic and the logistical. 

The artistic answer is to me, that felt like where the stories ended. In a lot of ways Zayn’s character arc actually ended earlier, when he told off his bully--when he saw that while there were some things he could not change, some he could--and Liam’s had been when he came out, so those were over, and so all that was left was them getting together, and realizing all the misunderstandings that had happened. And I wanted to end on that high note--of them getting back that summer love, of them discovering themselves again. There wasn’t anything else to say, really. 

The more logistical answer to this is I really hate writing established relationships. And ending it here minimized the amount of that I’d have to write.
