All these people in my class have lives and babies and taxes and troubles and I feel simultaneously really privileged and lucky and also sad and baby-less. Is that weird?

I don't have the best grades from high school so I will probably have to go to a state college. So would it be better to go to a community college first and get good grades then transfer to a university?

It depends-a lot of kids in Arizona get their tuition waived because of our state's testing requirements. Because of this, going to ASU, UA or NAU means that tuition is completely free while at a community college, you would actually have to pay to take those classes. The reason most people choose community college is because it's cheaper. If you can afford to attend your local university, I would encourage you do that and then transfer to a private university.

You may ask me "why community college?" well that is a very good question. I actually applied and was accepted to a number of 4-year schools , but sadly I do not have the kind of money they are demanding. Community college provides a nice transition period between High School and University. Although you won't get that legitimate college experience at Community college, you will get some perks.
