SWF seeks... a soirée with Hip'tique.

Hip'tique is one of my favorite Pittsburgh shops. Owner Leah hosted a party for the fashion-minded last Thursday evening. It had been far too long since my last visit so I made it a priority to be there. 

Hip'tique is great because I don't often find the pieces Leah carries anywhere else in Pittsburgh. And not only can you get amazing clothes for yourself, you can find wonderful gifts for children and beautiful home and jewelry items for you or a friend. One of Stella's first and favorite stuffed animals came from Hip'tique. 

Leah makes sure there's always an assortment of owls for me to choose from. 

There were a couple of companies with Pittsburgh ties at the event on Thursday, including Lex & Lynne Jewelry {above} and Cherry Valley Organics {the Tulsi tea is amazing!}.

I purchased a couple of items, including this cape and these jeans {watch for a Community Choice revolving around these jeans soon!} 

Of course I had reader input on what to wear. This coral dress is so amazing. It was a little over the top, but I went with it anyway.

SWF seeks... master of color & lightening.

Finally got my hair colored and trimmed up. My stylist, Jay, is a true master of color. I always give him free reign over my hair. I tell him how bright I want the red and whether I'm chopping or trimming the hair and he takes it from there. 

This time I sat down and he wrapped a towel around my shoulders while saying, "I'm going to try something a little different." I said, "Are you going to ombre my hair?" "Yes," he replied. Well, I shimmied right there in my little chair. I stupidly thought ombre was reserved for blondes. 

It's tremendously subtle and honestly, it's hard for me to see, but he said the color is richer at the roots and lightens toward the ends. All I know is the deep red is back. I missed it so much. *muwah muwah* It sort of matches my new booties, which is a bonus.

Looking forward to catching up over a glass of red witha gal who makes me chuckle daily. I hope you all had a great Thursday! {Even though I spent the morning thinking it was Friday. :\}

Dueling Dames: Vixen in the Kitchen

Who doesn't love a little friendly competition? Jupe Boutique challenged Ashley and me to take the same piece and style it. A sort of style showdown, if you will. 

We picked out this sheer embellished vest-tank combo on Saturday. I hadn't showered (don't judge) so I was wearing a little scarf turban. When I tried on the vest I thought, yeah. I look like a Bret Michaels-Steven Tyler love child... aaaaand I kinda dig it. 

I've mentioned before how desperately I would love to be a rock star. Or at least a rock star's go-go dancer girlfriend. Whenever a really great rock song comes on, I can't help but imagine myself melting people's faces off with my songs. My kitchen transforms into an arena and I just get to WAIIIILLLLLL!!! \m/

I am not a glam rock fan. But I would be lying if I said there was never a time long, long ago when I was an impressionable 8 year-old, that I didn't think those guys were sorta kinda cool.
