I think they're "subby" because a lot of men are discontent with hegemonic masculinity being the prevailing viewpoint on how men are viewed and the expectations that Society has for them. Subsequently, anime offers an alternative to the hyper-masculine media that are the norm in mainstream society (i.e. sports, super hero movies, video games), as there are quite a few dominant females in anime. The dominant females allow them to fantasizing about not having to be in control all of the time.

It’s interesting to me, because i remember hearing that high ranking executives tend to like being sexually submissive because it’s a break from their normal life.

The thing that most people get wrong about Tsubasa is that they mistake not liking her with not liking her character. Personally, I dislike Tsubasa, since she's so brash and naive and through her naivete, she causes so many problems; she disregards everything that her grandpa teaches her for her new BFF, Gelsadra. That being said, her character is fantastic as, like you said, she is a brilliant foil to Hajime, and the fact that she is a 100% accurate representation of the way kids really act.

mmm yeah, that makes sense, but i think it’s still important to take into her account her character development. after she has her conversation with yuru-jii in episode 10, she does listen to him, and you can tell that she’s changed both through her encounters with hajime and what she’s heard from her grandpa. so while she did have the problems that you mentioned, she isn’t necessarily still the same way at the end of the series. regardless, it’s still okay not to like her, but i think people should appreciate her character more!

I will agree that out of all the TMOHS series, Disappearance was my favorite, but TMOHS was pretty good. I haven’t watched the original series in a LONG time, and I may not have the same opinion as those converted to Haruhi-ism, but the new Yuki-Nagato anime is a disservice to the series.

However, I would rather watch the Yuki Nagato anime over the Endless Eight, AYNYDAY.
