First of all, thank you a million times for sending in a HC! Secondly, I am honored to be the person who broke your poop emoji usage cherry.

Benjamin can just be ridiculous as a person. We see him sing goofily in Julia’s ear to make her smile. We see him jumping into an ice cold pool to add some adventure and fun to the night. We get the absolute pleasure of watching him play with Charlotte and join in Christmas fun. Ridiculousness suits him. His dancing is high on the ridiculousness scale, and he'll do it around the house a lot and at different times, just to draw a smile. If reader is busy with artwork or grading or anything work-related for long hours and he’s taking a break from his own work, he’ll pop in and present a paper torn from a sketch pad boasting stick figures and maybe even a tree or some sunshine added in for extra finesse. He sings in the shower--loudly-- and it’s a healthy mix of 80s power ballads or 90s-early 2000’s rap. Once you heard him singing Power of Love by Celine Dion, and another time Fantasy by Mariah Carey, falsettos and runs and all-- and you never mentioned either, because the renditions left you… well, let’s say speechless. He doesn’t bat an eye at acting a fool if the mood strikes him and he knows it’ll make you happy, and he’s usually not bad at hitting that mark-- except for that time he dropped a snowball down the back of your shirt. You screamed alright, but not exactly in the way he was hoping for.

66- What’s your favorite color?

Red (like a deep, rich burgundy), copper, black, charcoal

82- What are four things you can’t live without and why?

1. Bread, because there’s nothing better than that first bite of freshly baked crusty bread. 2. Caffeine, because even though I know I need to cut back, since I typically don’t sleep... it’s a lifesaver. 3. Music, because it’s the one thing that I can always lose myself in, no matter what kind of mood I’m in. 4. Seasons, which sounds really dumb when I actually type it, but I’ve lived my whole life in a place where there are four seasons, and don’t think I could do without them since I use them as a way to mark time/the place in the year, and to help change my moods. 

187- You’re in a tattoo parlor about to get inked. What are you getting done?

The funny thing about that is that I’m honestly not sure what I want my next big one to be - maybe the flowers on my thigh? I need to figure out exactly what I want before I go in, though. Another option? The coverup of the one on my ribs - but that’s going to be painful as hell and I need to lose about 15 pounds before I consider it. 

I wish they could all be as easy as my last one - deciding on the simple design and walking in and feeling confident about placement and content and color.

Pine: What is your favorite scent?

Target smell. No, really, the smell of a new book. I have a candle and it 100% actually smells just like a new book. And it’s apropos in the way it’s named “New Book”. I also like that smell mixed with the smell of coffee, like in Books-A-Million.

Olive: Do you enjoy poetry? What kind?

I love poetry. I used to write a lot, and not terribly embarrassing poetry either, back in high school mostly. I had too many teachers in my face begging me to get them published. I like all kinds of poetry— Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience by William Blake, Poe’s The Raven. Everythibg Sylvia Plath, but especially Lady Lazarus. And I know how this sounds, but Jewel Kilcher’s first anthology I’d her poetry called A Night Without Armor is wholly beautiful. HIGHLY recommend.

Elanor: If you were a literary genre, which would you be?

This is so hard. Fiction, but none of that chick lit stuff. I read chick lit sometimes if I need something light, but that’s not often. Historical fiction, perhaps— I love reading books set during WWII.

32. What talent do you wish you'd been born with?

Artistic talent, as in drawing and that. i took art in high school and was good, but I've since forgotten all rules about perspective and all else.

78. What is your favorite flower?

Always tulips. It's weird because I hate roses, but I love the miniature ones.

190. If you could be any character from any literary work, who would you choose to be?

I am like... stuck on this one. I am huge reader but I can't think of a single character I'd really want to be. Maybe the title character from Daisy Jones and The Six.

Yellow: Who makes you the happiest?

My mom, for starters. She is my rock, my favorite person. She’s everything I wish I could be. We’ve always been super close, and when I have days where I can’t find words to finish a sentence, or word search and can’t figure out how to say what I mean (thank you to my disease for these) she always knows exactly what I’m trying to say and finishes my thoughts. She just makes me so, so happy. So do my littles.. when they’re not terrors. And shoutout to some all my mutuals. Y’all make me happy! (Specific shoutouts to you, lady, and @delos-destinations @delos-mio @the-blind-assassin-12 @something-tofightfor @gollyderek!) TLDR; a lot of people!

Green: What’s your favorite place?

Walt Disney World. NYC. The fictional reading nook I have in my mind. 😉 I’m going to go with my bedroom or outside when the weather is nice (uncommon in Louisiana) just chilling in my hammock. Also, my massage therapist’s table. And Target.

Gold: What’s your most prized possession?

My old as hell stuffed Donald Duck that I got for my second birthday. He’s threadbare in places, he’s got a couple stitches, and he’s more beige that white just because he’s so old, but I slept with him for way too long and he’s still here, still intact, and I’d grab him to save in a fire. (Just like I saved him from flooding in 2016).
