9. 🧞if you could wish on a genie to make one s-class ship canon (which is not your OTP), what would it be?

Funniest background option: Do Hamin/Kim Minyi. Given how Yoojin keeps thinking how no one around him is dating~ why?! I find it would be very funny if actually, many people around him are dating, it's just that somehow everyone around him is gay, and sadly (for everyone but especially Sung Hyunjae and also Han Yoojin), Yoojin's het googles are welded on too tight. But more serious answer: probably Kang Soyoung/Riette. They are 90% of the way already there, the 10% more won't make any difference! (Han Yoojin's het goggles getting him a very judgy staredown is already even canon for this ship! 🤣)

Ch 851 for sure. Canon whump and hurt/comfort and SHJ POV, what's not to love! I love it so so much!

15. 🦄 what would be your s-class kiseungu?

God, I'm not great with animals IRL. Jewel-snakes look so pretty and cute and also smart though. Probably one of them. Bellare is adorable. Maybe a midnight/sapphire blue or deep emeraldish one.  I would never go anywhere without my trusty jewel-snake on my neck/shoulders.

Please tell us about the first Sung Hyunjae and his first meeting with Crescent Moon!  Apparently someone did ask this in a previous Q&A, and Geunseo declined to answer because there was a possibility for this to appear in the side stories!! But that didn't happen!! So please tell us! 😭

19. 🎭 which platonic duo / group did you enjoy the most?

Close tie between Young Chaos & Sung Hyunjae (with Yeon and also Han Yoojin (ETA: I can't believe I forgot to also add Gyeol in this combo!); and Han Yoohyun & Yerim with Han Yoojin.  I love how Yoohyun and Yerim learn from each other and become so very siblingly as the story continues, despite Yoohyun being Yoohyun. Yerim admiring Yoohyun as a hunter and guild-leader and learning from him by emulation in those spheres, but at the same time Yoohyun also learning from Yerim - how to be 'cute' and understanding social contexts and coming to depend on her in hyung-protection. I really really like that growth in Yoohyun and how Yerim doesn't let him get away with shit.  As for Young Chaos and Sung Hyunjae, that was a mind-boggling combination to me when I first heard about it but when I actually read it, I ended up sooo enamored of their dynamic. The latest chapters translated by SFS were the original start of my love for them, and I have been so excited to finally read a proper translation of those! Literally never encountered before one-of-a-kind duo where SPOILERS the beloved group grandpa ends up adopting the 'suave older guy who has it all'. A+ fantastic, I love them so much, and also their little family unit with Yeon.

Funnily enough, that's actually the only work of hers I've read thus far; I really ought to check out her adult lit sometime. But yes, I love Wildwood Dancing! I first read it back in...gosh, probably middle school? and then reread it earlier this year, some 10-12 years later. I'm eternally weak for folklore-heavy, portal-to-another/unseen-world type stories and I remember really appreciating all the Romanian terms and names that were kept in. While I hadn't retained many of the details, the concept and feeling of that book stuck with me for years and I was so happy to read it again (the exact same library copy, no less!).

1. Tell us about your current project(s)  – what’s it about, how’s progress, what do you love most about it?

I love Beowulf, more properly titled SPINNING YARNS.  I’m at the tail end of the revision cycle before I pass it off to a friend to read and rip apart again, and it’s just a fluffy, happy romantic comedy about an asexual 17-year-old girl who is a fiber artist and the new boy, who got kicked out of his prep school for fighting and who is awkward, too bright for his own good, and very very into Beowulf.  Also telepathy.  And there is a lightness to it that my stuff doesn’t often have, which has made it a real joy to write and work on.  Instead of going to a dark head place, it’s fluff.

6. What character do you have the most fun writing?

The comic assholes.  It’s Pansy in HP usually.  The person who is just utterly selfish and self-absorbed and bluntly doesn’t care about anyone except themselves is just the most fun.  

(I think I may be looking at the wrong list?  Because I have no 29?  I am a small and tired monster and doing the best I can, I’m sorry!)

God, for all of Maka’s Big Girl bravery earlier, she’sfeeling incredibly foolish sitting in front of her mom at the kitchen table andcrying.

“We just—wanted—to play—” Maka explains through her tears asMama lectures both of them on running away from school.

Mama looks down at the piece of paper where he wrote hishome phone number and then begins dialing with furious fingers. “You can’t justgo and leave school just because youdon’t want to be there anymore, Maka. You have to stay there until your fatheror I come to pick you up. And taking this poor boy with you!”

Soul looks absolutely mortified at being pointed out, evenindirectly. He’s probably regretting ever deciding to be her friend. He duckshis head low and says “sorry” again, real quiet, like he’s been doing for thelast 10 minutes while Maka’s mom looked for the cordless telephone.

Soul’s mom picks up and is screaming so loud in relief thatMaka and Soul can both hear her even though the phone isn’t on speakerphone.

“So he’s okay? He’swith you and he’s safe?”

“Yes, Mrs. Evans. Soul is totally fine and my daughter apologizes,”Mama looks at Maka pointedly, “for convincing him to leave school. We live twoblocks away. They were in my house playing when I found them. Yes, get a penand I’ll tell you the address—”

“Sorry for getting you in trouble,” Maka whispers and theirparents converse over the phone. She scoots closer to him and remains lookingdown, lest Mama try and punish her more.

Soul’s quiet for a bit, and Maka starts becoming thoroughlyconvinced that she’s ruined her first and only friendship before he finallyresponds.

“I had fun, today.”

Maka looks up. His expression is still downcast andapologetic, like hers, but when she catches his eye his expression matcheshers, with a slightly conspiratorial smile.

He’s her best friend after that.
