he had been gone for far too long, natasha found. she hadn’t been ‘impatient’ per se though; she herself was gone for great amounts of time often enough herself. missions of private nature leading her all over the globe. it was weird not to receive any direct orders anymore, not from the russians, and not from shield. gave her the opportunity to do her own thing, make things personal for a change.
and so she missed steve, she always did. it was a strange feeling. natasha wasn’t new to missing people, she had feelings like everyone else after all but this kind of feeling was so obviously grounded in romantic nature, it almost scared her.
when she heard the lock at the font door turn, he almost flinched. her heart started beating in her chest as she laid on the bed, turned on her side. she wasn’t quite used to a safe space like this, an apartment where the door clicking only meant an ally entered the room, and not a potential attacker. still, old habits died hard, so natasha reminded herself of the gun below the pillow her head was resting on. then she heard steps, and those sounded very familiar. she immediately recognized that moving pattern as steve’s.
of course she had made preperations beforehand. it seemed like she might be wearing a regular tank top and panties, but those were of the crotchless kind and didn’t cover her at all. she tried very hard not to smirk, knowing it would be a nice surprise for the man. she kept her eyes closed, feigning sleep. maybe steve himself was tired enough to really believe natasha could be sleeping soundly while there were noises at the door.
