Colors Explanation Please
I am requesting that the Star Fleet color scheme be explained to me a bit better. I was looking at cute Star Fleet outfits and I wanted to buy one but I wanted to get it in the color I would be an officer in, but the colors confuse me. I'm a new fan of Star Trek fan and have only seen the AOS movies.
I know there are three colors; red, blue, and gold, but that is where my understanding ends and my confusion begins. Gold is command team I believe and that seems very broad and undescriptive considering that the Captain and navigation officers are both under this color? Then science blues but medical officers are also blue and though medicine is a science shouldn't they have a better identifier for battlefield situations? Is my understanding of engineering off because isn't it a science so why aren't they blue? Red is the most confusing because you have engineers, security officers, and then communications (Which feels like it should be in the gold set since navigation is.) are all in the same group but don't really have much in common.
I'm just confused and would like the colors explained to me so that I can pick which track I would be in confidently. I work with economics specializing in natural resources but I also work with teaching languages so any help would be great.
Why is he in RED!? I know he's a captain just from osmosis from within this fandom!!!!!!
