I, for one, am happy these actors feel comfortable being loud about how much you and your friend suck. If you’re doing something so against that show as voting for a rapist convicted felon who wants to end democracy, what did you expect? Especially from those women?

Actors being loud about how these assholes are NOT welcome makes fandom safer for a lot more people who deserve to be there.

Maybe your fav actor hating you for your bigoted politics should be a cause for reflection about what’s gone so wrong in your life. You know, if this bothers you so much.

forever thinking about the idea that star trek fans are so fun because everyone has a different Thing they’re obsessed with and then thinking about the guy I met a couple of times at stlv who was dressed as a bajoran, i was in my kira cosplay and he offered to hold my stuff while I was taking photos with people and said “we bajorans have to stick together” and later showed me he has the bajoran symbol tattooed on his chest and showed me a bunch of bajoran starship prints he got and said “i love it when they have stuff for us” I didn’t catch his name but I will think about him forever he also mentioned having a husband I LOVE YOU GAY BAJORAN MAN . I HOPE WE MEET AGAIN.

leonard nimoy is actually so cool guys.

so, i just got back from a convention where i saw a panel with the lady that plays Saavik, leonard nimoy’s assistant for the star trek movies, and one of the main producers of the movies.

and just so y’all know! this panel was NOT supposed to be abt leonard nimoy!! like, maybe tangentially, but the point was to talk about working on The Search for Spock.

in spite of that!! they all spent pretty much the whole time talking about what a kind person leonard nimoy was. like - the assistant dude worked on star trek 3 and 4, and didn’t find out until after 4 was finished that paramount didn’t want to pay for nimoy to have a second assistant so nimoy payed him OUT OF HIS OWN POCKET.

and AND! the lady that played saavik was talking about how she had…no idea what she was doing as a young actor with very little experience. so, she approached leonard nimoy and explained that, and his solution was to sit her down before scenes and give her direction and guidance.

like. there were so many more stories like that that they told. and i guess since he’s someone i’ve always looked up to its really nice to hear that nimoy was just genuinely nice to the people working for him, you know?

Another thing learned at the con:

Marina Sirtis was talking about a time when she had to fight the producers to give her (and Brent) real colored contacts. Apparently the makeup artists were PAINTING them first season and these poor people then had to stick those painted contacts in their eyeballs . Like she talked about the contact case turning black from the paint and the contacts were in her eyes far longer

So then 2nd season rolls around and Brent goes to Marina like "they want me to go back to the painted ones because the new ones aren't yellow enough 😭"

And Marina was like "oh hell no" and got Brent to tell them no, lol.

And now we know why his eyes change to a lighter shade in later seasons
