commaqueen reblogged your photoset and added:
“Why get married at all if you don’t want to embrace the related traditions?”
Therein lies my reasoning folks. Not interested in the “related traditions”.
Because marriage isn’t just another convention; it’s a legal civil contract that will grant you certain rights regarding your spouse that you simply don’t get if you're not legally bound. Even civil unions don’t cover the same extent of rights and obligations than marriage does, which is why same-sex couples have fought to achieve the latest even after they had been granted civil unions.
Since you’re not legally obligued to take your husband’s surname just like you’re not legally obligued to wear a white dress, but you are legally granted by marriage visitation rights when your spouse is incarcerated or hospitalized, I’d tell Elijah to shut the fuck up and learn the difference between tradition and institution.

I love guessing words. I call it the word game. I always needed someone to play the word game with me in college when i wrote essays bc I'm picky about word choice.
THAT'S THE WORD, THANK YOU ANGEL!! xx
