are we just gonna ignore that 'joseph stalin' is an acceptable six letter - six letter troll name
It's May Day. I'm a Socialist, and I didn't go to any rallies today because there are none on this side of the Puget Sound and I'm too lonely and poor to travel to Seattle by myself. So, I figure I'll at least say a thing today to feel as though I did something at least partially noteworthy.
"Quit romanticizing capitalism and the idea of always needing to be “productive” or else not being worthy of existing"
I just saw this on a post, and it got me to thinking. It states a factor of capitalism is overvaluing productivity, or else being deemed unworthy. Come to think of that, is that not also a factor of communism as well? From each according to their ability, to each according to their needs, but isn't it crucial in a communist society that everyone contributes in order to be allowed to share in the common spoils?
So on this May Day, I'll say not to attribute overvalued productivity to merely capitalism, but to flawed leftist beliefs as well. The entire idea has ableist connotations and roots as well, and that's also very problematic. Honestly, the Socialist who I am believes that everyone should be taken care of, regardless of ability or productivity level.
There's a big difference between being unproductive because you are merely lazy or indifferent, and being unproductive because you have a disability or other type of lack of privilege that you cannot control that prevents you. I believe everyone has the right to be taken care of and treated as a valued individual.
HAPPY MAY DAY, COMRADES!
