I have never seen people complaining about minecraft tag being used for fanarts instead of something related to the game itself. Does it actually annoy minecraft community?

It certainly does! My commiseration fruit tag has a couple of other peoples' grievances... But it's the new year, we could do with a fresh harvest!

It’s interesting how you’ve been nothing but cordial and polite and the people sending you asks have been nothing but aggressive. I guarantee MCYT fans would be the first to start bitching if they were on the other side…..

Ohh trust me, mcyt fandom is built on layers and layers of terrible tagging. We're bad at this even within our own SMP-specific fandoms! 🫠

If I was actually being the tyrannical asshole some of these asks insist I am, this blog would look something like: "don't tag Life Series as Hermitcraft, don't tag every SMP a creator has ever been in under fanart of a series/season-specific skin or build, not all Life members are Hermitcraft members, guys, shut up shut UP oh my GOD why is Martyn Inthelittlewood in the Hermitcraft tag again. Why does it feel like Jimmy Solidaritygaming appears more often in fic and fanart than actual decade-long whitelisted Hermitcraft members. I'm so tired and I am going to bite your face off 💥"

...so yeah. Compared to that, I think I'm being very reasonable and polite 🙂

You are doing gods work, most Minecraft related tags have become unusable for base game enjoyers, Minecraft art, Minecraft fanart, Minecraft lore, Minecraft theory, Minecraft oc, just plain Minecraft, anything. It’s genuinely awful and you can’t even filter it properly. Which is crazy because there are respective tags for those things for the other fandoms saying the exact same thing (hermitcraft lore, mcyt fanart, minecraft smp ect ect), they just use the base game tags nonetheless.

Real people fiction makes me uncomfortable, and it’s what I’d categorize most mcyt spaces as, so the fact that the crosstagging is such an issue feels so invasive.

It really is infuriating... One of the oddest things I see is people tagging for the youtubers, and then #minecraft, and that's it. Not the server, not the series, just. The game. I wonder if, for some people, MCYTs are their only window into the game? They're watching Youtuber the Character in Minecraft The Show™, in the same way other people watch, idk, Supernatural. Which sucks, to be clear.

It's why I included the reminder in the crystal text for people to at least use #mcyt for filtering purposes. It's not perfect, because as someone who likes both mcyt and minecraft I DON'T want to have to enable a filter every time I go into the minecraft tag... But it's something 🫠

The asks you’ve been getting from MCYT fans are insane. Why are people sending you deranged rants over a very reasonable request? Speaking as someone who’s been in the MC fandom since 2021, I am relieved people are actually addressing this issue. I follow the Minecraft tag to look at fanart of the actual game, not Dream RPF. They literally use the Mineblr tag, despite the fact it was made for the express purpose of separating MCYT and actual minecraft.

Since 2021, huh... yeah, #minecraft must've been an absolute nightmare back then. I was definitely active on tumblr around then, but being an mcyt fan I only knew of the issue from the outside :') Glad I can help in some way now though, & I appreciate the support-- especially in a named ask, since it shows that other people are genuinely bothered by the mistagging 💜

And hey! Since we're talking about names: anon asks have calmed down for now since I took a few days off for the new year, but a couple peoples' complaints are still clearly visible in my notes. How fun! How original, in their rebuttals!

I think a couple of people have done that, when I just started the blog? I don't mind if you do, but it's definitely a tough one.

On the one hand yeah, it does feel rude. I don't want anyone to feel like they're being dogpiled, or like I'm. sending my hordes of followers (all 36 of you lol) to attack anyone who doesn't follow my Evil Rules. idk. I'd also hate for people to start accusing me of using sockpuppet accounts, sending hate to people that tag me etc.

On the other hand... More people besides me being outspoken about the state of the #minecraft tag legitimises this blog's message. Makes it easier to address the crazy claims of this being some kind of selfish power trip that I alone care about. Lmao

Once again horrified by the amount of mcyt posts NOT TAGGED WITH MCYT y'all it can't be hard to tag your stuff with mcyt too, i don't want to filter a million different smp names and characters to be able to navigate through the MINECRAFT TAG.

I get so tired every time I see tags that are like: #smp. #minecraft smp. #smpblr. #blorbo1. #blorbo1 minecraft. #minecraft #youtube. #minecraft youtube.

Aaargh they are so close! There's only one tag here causing alllll the clutter and torment and it's so easy to remove it!! People are like "well if you don't like mcyt just filter it" BUDDY I LITERALLY CAN'T*

Yk what I find funny? I have mcyt blocked and the post still show unblocked. Some of these mfers don't even TAG their mcyt stuff WITH mcyt so we'll be able to filter them out. Shame. Shame . Shame

Wow. I'm an mcyt fan myself & don't have the tag blocked, so I didn't really notice that this is a frequent issue. But it also doesn't surprise me at all... Yeahh, that sucks. Thank you for sharing! I've added a recommendation to my pinned for people to replace their use of #minecraft with #mcyt, if they don't already use the tag.
