Check out a few photos from the totally awesome GROW (Grounded and Resilient Organizers' Workshop) Climate Justice training that the Unitarian Universalist College of Social Justice just put on as part of Commit2Respond (which UUSC is a founding member of)! There were 18 participants from all over, including California, Massachusetts, Texas, Wisconsin, Louisiana, and Canada, and they are all dedicated to advancing climate justice and defending the human rights of the people most affected by climate change. 

Oh, and the mattress? Part of an exercise in identifying and understanding the pillars that support any given institution — so you can figure out how to dismantle oppressive ones!

The silence that surrounds global warming not only means that we don’t understand the causes and impacts of climate change (which, to be fair, are superconfusing) but also that we don’t understand each other and how we view this issue as individuals and a nation.

Commit2Respond is committed to action in three ways: growing the climate justice movement, advancing the human rights of people and communities affected by climate change, and shifting to clean, renewable energy. Its website will be interactive so it can be used as a hub to share ideas, create partnerships, and offer opportunities for collective action.
