Yes, of course it is a good thing to cut down on plastic use, walk to school and turn the lights off.
But we will never get anywhere with protecting the environment if big companies and governments don't take responsibility for their actions.
They contribute to climate change as much as many individual people trying to make a difference do, so it is only reasonable that they take their share of the responsibility of combatting climate change.
Especially as these companies and governments have the money and resources to make a big difference.
Yes, we as individuals can change things in the world by changing things in our lives, but we won't get very far without pressuring the big players to change.
And hey, I'm talking to you climate conscious person who calls people out on a regular basis over there, next time you are about to hassle a disabled person over their plastic usage, stop, consider your actions and go make a complaint to a big company instead. There are actually helpful ways to channel your concern for the environment.
🌳 The planet CAN sustain us if we actively choose to live within moderation rather than overconsumption.
Media-wise, we should really start celebrating/hyping those who practice sustainability rather than excess.
“We buy things we don’t need, with money we don’t have, to impress people we don’t like,” - Fight Club
It’s also worth remembering that historical figures and people in general are still just people. Gandhi contributed to major social change, AND he also held views that were problematic and limiting.
We don’t need perfect heroes to recognize meaningful ideas.
We can value wisdom while still acknowledging fallible human behind it.

HOUSE GOP ARE MEETING THIS WEEK TO PUSH KOSA AGAIN
To summarize what KOSA is, It is essentially a censorship bill that if passed would force online platforms to self censor and target anything that the government considers not safe for children, which would target sexual health information, LGTBQ+ resources, and other pieces of info that the government don't like.
Senator Blumenthal is trying to push KOSA again. This time, he is bringing Blackburn and meeting with House Republican leadership to try to convince them to support it THIS WEEK. This is VERY bad since House GOP leadership is the reason this bill hasn't moved forward so far. We NEED to blow up those phones of those members all week and make sure this is the poison pill it is.
Please, leave voicemails to HOUSE GOP leadership today, and call them this upcoming week. Their phone numbers are here as well as the call script. Spread this EVERYWHERE. I do not know which day specifically they are meeting.
P.S. make sure you are using the correct script for republicans when calling them! It's all in the call script

The young people in our @ObamaFoundation Leaders program give me hope. One of those leaders, Luisa Neubauer, is working to fight climate change and recently traveled to Antarctica. This Earth Day, I hope you'll check out her incredible story.
Happy Sunday everyone
Just a reminder that trump is mentioned in the Epstein files over a million fucking times.....
He's Ice agents are murdering people in the streets and tearing hardworking families apart..
Oh yeah and he's labeling climate change a hoax while trying to destroy everything the EPA has found so far....
Have a great day 👍
"Record heat, record emissions, record fossil fuel consumption. The world is further than ever from reaching its collective climate goals. At the root of all these problems, according to recent research, is the human “behavioural crisis”, a term coined by an interdisciplinary team of scientists.
“We’ve socially engineered ourselves the way we geoengineered the planet,” says Joseph Merz, lead author of a new paper which proposes that climate breakdown is a symptom of ecological overshoot, which in turn is caused by the deliberate exploitation of human behaviour.
“We need to become mindful of the way we’re being manipulated,” says Merz, who is co-founder of the Merz Institute, an organisation that researches the systemic causes of the climate crisis and how to tackle them.
Merz and colleagues believe that most climate “solutions” proposed so far only tackle symptoms rather than the root cause of the crisis. This, they say, leads to increasing levels of the three “levers” of overshoot: consumption, waste and population.
They claim that unless demand for resources is reduced, many other innovations are just a sticking plaster. “We can deal with climate change and worsen overshoot,” says Merz. “The material footprint of renewable energy is dangerously underdiscussed. These energy farms have to be rebuilt every few decades – they’re not going to solve the bigger problem unless we tackle demand.”
“Overshoot” refers to how many Earths human society is using up to sustain – or grow – itself. Humanity would currently need 1.7 Earths to maintain consumption of resources at a level the planet’s biocapacity can regenerate.
Where discussion of climate often centres on carbon emissions, a focus on overshoot highlights the materials usage, waste output and growth of human society, all of which affect the Earth’s biosphere.
“Essentially, overshoot is a crisis of human behaviour,” says Merz. “For decades we’ve been telling people to change their behaviour without saying: ‘Change your behaviour.’ We’ve been saying ‘be more green’ or ‘fly less’, but meanwhile all of the things that drive behaviour have been pushing the other way."
