Achimescu’s work was featured in Selections Fall 2006: Common Destination, an exhibition that brought together artists from different backgrounds who shared the characteristic of making drawings based on both their experience of and their imagined encounters with contemporary geopolitics. Achimescu’s work is often installation-based. He makes drawings both on paper and on tents and other nomadic structures, sometimes arranging the works so that they hang in massive quantities.  For his images, Achimescu tends to sketch different kinds of architectural elements – structures that have gone through a decay process, been overrun by foliage, abandoned, and transformed.
