Spy vs. Spy: Bond vs. Bourne
So this meme keeps cropping up as I'm researching the Bourne Trilogy obsessively because I have fallen in love with these movies, but seriously, this is the wrong question, peoples. Bourne is not a spy. Got it? He's an assassin. There's a bit of an overlap in the skillset, but Bond is a spy. He needs that suave, debonair charm. He needs to be able to smoothly maintain false pretenses. Bourne is an assassin. He needs to be able to speak a ton of languages and hide under cover, but he doesn't need charm. He needs to be able to force access to wherever he needs, kill a target, and get out without anyone knowing it was him. He needs to be able to fight in all environments, from close work to sniping. He's not a spy.
