Teaching young people to swim is one of the most important missions of the lifeguard organization. But our efforts go beyond just teaching the mechanics of swimming. We instill in our students a deep respect for the power of the ocean, and a sense of responsibility.
Through our swim programs, we not only save lives, but also promote healthy habits and active lifestyles. Swimming is a low-impact exercise that provides a full-body workout, and can help improve cardiovascular health, strength, and flexibility.
Our cadets receive hands-on training in a variety of skills, including swim rescue techniques, CPR and first aid, and beach patrol operations.

A reserve reports: "As a reserves life guard, I look forward to my annual 4 weeks of duty every year. It's a chance for me to brush up on my skills, contribute to the community, and bond with my fellow lifeguards. At the beginning of my 4 weeks…

When serving on reserve duty, we use our 5 digit alpha numeric designation instead of our names.
It's a reminder that we are part of a larger system, and that our individual identities are less import. It helps us stay focused on our duty.
Using our designation instead of our names helps to create a sense of anonymity and impartiality. It allows us to focus on the task at hand without being distracted by personal biases or prejudices.
"But despite using a designation, we still form close bonds and connections with our fellow reservists. It's a reminder that even though we may be anonymous in name, we are still united by a common purpose and duty.
