WE GOTTA TALK ABOUT IDENTITY POLITICS.

Marxists and Liberals agree that bigotry of all types is an unspeakably-destructive barrier to building a prosperous, just, and peaceful society. But that's about where the similarities end. What is the best way to go about fighting identity-based oppression such as racism, sexism, or homophobia / transphobia? How do we understand what oppression is and where it comes from? And what does victory even look like? Marxism and Liberal identity politics have very different answers to these questions. 

 In this video we take a deep dive into the mindset of identity politics, and the issues it tries to address. We primarily use the example of sexism, though we do discuss racism too. We look at how liberal identity politics fails to understand oppression and is incapable - perhaps even unwilling - to achieve liberation for all. We see how Marxists are much better equipped to tackle social issues due to our understanding of class analysis and historical materialism. We examine how oppression in all forms comes from class-based society, and how the only way to truly liberate marginalized groups is the total emancipation of the working class as a whole.

Big red boots/crocs are peak capitalism

So I have a friend (person who thinks they're my friend) who's obsessed with weird fashion stuff (including the big red boots/big yellow crocs) and I keep telling them to shut up about the big red boots because I hate them, and they've grown up rich so they don't really get it but I feel like fashion is mostly about self expression, and some extreme fashion I do like but big red boots especially feels so obsurdly, obnoxiously capitalistic? Like wear big ugly, obnoxious boots that aren't comfortable because why? They're 300 dollars and are a status symbol? You need to be high class to get them and it just feels like a mockery of~ everything idek.
