When Words Are Lost: Aphasia, Anxiety, and the Quiet Power of Listening
With Clinical Insight, Emotional Wisdom, and Evidence for Whole-Person Stroke Care
There are wounds that don’t bleed.
In stroke, one of the most invisible—and yet most life-altering—is the loss of communication.
Imagine waking in your own body, in your own bed, in a ward that is supposed to be your place of recovery… and realising you cannot say your name. You cannot ask for water. You cannot…
After recently reading the PubMed article “Child and family characteristics associated with verbal communication difficulties in adolescents with autism and other developmental disabilities” by Patrick S Powell et al. I’ve been thinking a lot about how we understand communication in autistic adolescents.
communication isn’t linear.
it doesn’t move neatly from “less” to “more,” or from “struggling” to “successful.”
for autistic adolescents, it develops in its own way—shaped by growth, yes, but also by stress, by routines, by the energy it takes to exist in certain spaces, by family dynamics, and by the support (or lack of it) around them.
sometimes communication expands. sometimes it pauses. sometimes it shifts direction or loops back to something that once felt steady.
and none of that is failure.
every autistic child has their own rhythm—their own timing, their own way of expressing and connecting. it might not line up with what others expect, but that doesn’t make it wrong. it just makes it theirs.
and that difference matters.
because these ways of communicating aren’t deficits. they aren’t broken or incomplete. they are whole, valid ways of engaging with the world—ways of reaching out, sharing meaning, and being understood.
maybe the goal was never to make communication fit a straight line. maybe the goal is to learn how to listen when it bends.

Gmail has recently rolled out an update to the Inbox using which users can set custom time and date for snoozed e-mail reminders. But you might find it difficult to adjust the preset time reminders in the application.
For example, if your working hours start at 10 a.m. but your preset time for morning reminder is 8 a.m., it could be really frustrating to receive early alerts that you're not willing to deal with. The same issue could crop up with the afternoon and evening schedules since, everyone doesn’t have the same working hours. This is where using this email can be a great assistance.
Therefore, you need to know the below-mentioned instructions, which is the process to change the preset times so that you could easily snooze an email for the suitable time:
· Go to the left-side slide-out Inbox menu in Gmail.
· Select Settings.
· Choose the account for which you want to change the preset values.
· Opt for Snooze settings.
· Now adjust each to the hour that fits into your schedule.
Now you could easily snooze a message without fiddling with the time and date.
After following these steps, you can easily change the settings as per your preference. Further, if you’re facing any issues with the same, get in touch with the communication support.
