Community The Movie (Fan Fiction) - Intro
The film opens with a shot of the Earth from outerspace, serene and picturesque. A familiar, narrative voice speaks out of shot:
Voice of Elroy: It has been two years since the world as we knew it ended. A world where anything was possible, full of love, magic and paintballs. And unlike any other situation in the history of mankind and education, the fateful words ‘Schools Out’, were met, not with elation but devastation. But it was not the end.
The camera would zoom in to a fast spinning Earth quicker and quicker till it lands in Hollywood before moving steadily through a bustling movie studio where we find Abed sitting in the director’s chair.
Elroy: Because life after class offers new, boundless opportunities. The chance to express yourself. . .
The camera is zoomed in on Abed who is taking in his surroundings with glee and positivity. He sighs a sigh of contentment before looking down at the megaphone in his hands. He raises it to his lips. . . . .
Real Director: What is the damn runner doing in my chair!?
Abed quickly jumps up and looks sheepish.
Real Director: Get me my latte Azus!
Abed: Right away Mr Snyder.
The camera withdraws lightning fast and flies over to a tall, official office building.
Elroy: A chance to gain respect. . . .
We are now directly face to face with Annie.
She thrusts her badge forward in time.
Annie: Annie Edison, I’m with the bureau. . .
A two foot tall pile of documents is dropped directly infront of her. As the camera zooms out we can see she is in a very small typical office cubical.
Fellow Worker: These invoices need to be signed off by 5 Edison.
Annie exhales as she begins to take papers from the top of the pile.
The camera flies away once again and enters a large, luxurious bank.
Elroy: A chance to achieve our dreams. . . .
We see Shirley standing by a display board with graphs, pie charts and sandwich ideas.
Shirley: And lastly, aswell as the quick turnaround and easily achievable break even date, Shirley’s Sandwiches has the potential to franchise out in the future and. . .
Banker Guy: I’m sorry Miss Bennett, I don’t want to waste anymore of your time, I just don’t think we will be able to give you this loan, I’m sorry.
He reaches below his office desk and pulls out a foot long subway sandwich and starts unwrapping it. The last thing we see before the camera fizzes away is Shirley’s scowl. The camera continues to fly to a Mexican village and a worn down saloon.
Elroy: A chance to become a man. . . .
We see only the back of a man wearing a sombrero and poncho sitting at the grubby bar. His hand reaches out for a mug fashioned from an imaginary tv show. Some letters are faded and it reads ‘T y nd b d’. At the bottom of his stool sits a rucksack that reads ‘Greendale Community College’.
Just like that the camera is off again and we find ourselves roaring through an endless crowd to the door of a grand house. There stands Chang.
Elroy: A chance for fame and fortune. . . .
Photos flash and there are cries of ‘Chang look this way’ ‘Over here’. The deranged former spanish teacher soaks up the attention waving to the crowd.
Big Brother: Ben, you have been evicted, please leave the Big Brother House.
Chang: NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
Chang screams in terror and grabs the door frame either side with each arm, shaking his head furiously and refusing to move. Two security guards pull him away and carry him kicking and screaming down the stairs.
Once again we follow the camera elswhere to a swanky looking banquet hall and quickly flash to the face of an empassioned Britta delivering an empowered speech.
Elroy: A chance to change the world. . . . .
Britta: I mean we can’t expect equality for women when even at the basest level they creat seperation and segregation to further encourage the idea that both genders can never be the same. The whole concept of seprate toilets for men and women instills at an early age that. . . .
Banquet Guest: I’m sorry but can I just get a towel and dry my hands?
The camera zooms out to show that Britta is wearing a full bathroom attendant attire and has been boring these poor people to death. She begrudgingly hands over a towel and as expected receives no tip.
Elroy: She’s the worst. . . .
This next trip follows the camera off to a fancy looking hotel building in a scenic rural area. We cut to Jeff walking through a doorway into a large room talking away on his cellphone.
Elroy: A chance to escape everything. . . .
Jeff: Oh yeah it’s a sweet hookup, I mean there’s no minibar but I’ve got a queen size bed, room service, jacuzzi facilities, the works.
There’s a knock behind him and a nurse stands in the doorway.
Nurse: Mr Winger, group therapy is starting in five minutes.
With that she walks away revealing behind her a notice board headed by the words ‘Greendale Rehabilitation Centre’. Jeff drops his phone on the bed and looks in a mirror on his wall, expressing deep sadness and loss as he stares at the reflection.
The camera leaves through the barred bedroom window and heads down the road to a familiar looking campus. ‘Greendale Community College’.
Elroy: So it seems that life after college dosn’t always go the way you expect it, but one thing we know for certain is that it wasn’t the end. It still isn’t. And somethings. . . . Never Change.
Dean Pelton: Good Morning Greendale!!. . . . .
Ok, so that’s my intro, it’s brief but I hope that people get it and like it. I have a plot layed out in my mind with some moments clearer than others and a very vivid ending. Also I haven’t forgotten Frankie or Pierce (who may or may not be alive) or Buzz Hickey who definitely is dead if you look at the lunch ladies emails real close on a paused screen! But I hope to get the general story wrote out sometime soon too, believe it or not it all came to me in a dream. Community is my favourite program ever and I relate to it so much and talk about it endlessly. If you like this or love the show please give it a reblog, I’d love to share this with as many people as possible.
