Community Solar Gardens: How Renters Can Buy In Without a Roof
Community Solar Gardens: How Renters Can Buy In Without a Roof
You don’t need a rooftop or a mortgage to tap into solar energy. Community solar gardens make it possible for renters to power their homes with sunshine—without installing a single panel.
These shared solar projects allow individuals to subscribe to a portion of a larger, off-site solar array. That share offsets part of your monthly electricity bill, usually at a guaranteed discount compared to traditional grid power.
It’s simple: you sign up with a community solar provider, often with no upfront cost. You continue to receive electricity from your local utility, but now part of your energy comes from the shared solar farm. Your monthly bill reflects both your utility usage and your solar credit—which usually reduces the total.
Programs are expanding across the U.S., especially in states like New York, Illinois, Minnesota, and Colorado. Some even prioritize low- to moderate-income households with extra savings.
No roof. No panels. Just clean energy, shared locally.

The Rise of Community Solar: Making Solar Accessible for All
Our government is focusing on solar and they are continuously focusing on solar and making their effort to promote installing solar panels.
Solar is eco-friendly and easy to install on rooftops. The installation of solar panels gets more pocket-friendly with the government schemes and subsidy initiatives. As a result, more people starting investing in solar energy and nowadays you can see solar installed in every third house's rooftop. People understand the benefits of solar energy and take advantage of government subsidies and schemes to install solar panels on their roofs.
Solis Power solution is understanding the demand for solar and solar equipment that is in demand and providing you with the best solar product experience for you. Whether you want to install it on your rooftop or at your office and industry area.
What Is Community Solar?
Community solar, also Known as shared solar or solar auditoriums, is a collaborative approach to solar power generation that allows multiple participants to benefit from a centrally located solar array. Unlike traditional rooftop installations, community solar projects are typically situated off-site, enabling individuals, businesses, or organizations to subscribe to a portion of the solar array's output without the need for individual installations. This model provides access to solar energy for those who may not be able to install solar panels on their properties, such as renters or those with shaded or unsuitable roofs. Additionally, it allows for cost sharing and provides an opportunity for communities to come together to support clean energy initiatives.

Another day cleaning up after Hurricane Maria. Awesome crew of people. My heart goes out to all that still have no power for the last 6 months, and might not for another 6 months. #communitysolar is my dream (at Puerto Rico)
Quick Win project No. 20: Coast FM Wynyard community radio studio, Tas Coastal FM operates a professionally built studio complex in Wynyard with 3 transmitters
New project! This is CORENA's 20th Quick Win project - a 5.28kW solar installation for the Coast FM Community Radio Tasmania studio at Wynyard in Tasmania.
Project 19 for the community centre at Clunes, NSW, is now fully funded, and we already have $2,800 towards solar for the Coast FM studio, partly due to a large loan repayment into our revolving fund from one of our earlier projects (Tastex Knitwear and Uniforms) and partly due to a generous 'one panel' donation.
If you're looking for a climate-ethical gift to give this xmas, how about donating to this project on your friend's behalf? Just go to the link above and click the 'Chip in' button. It's a gift that will keep on giving over and over again as future loan repayments from this project will also help fund future community solar projects (just like the Tastex loan repayment is now helping to fund this new project).
