Compelling and Rich: Brown Betty Espresso
What a beautiful broad. Seriously. Just looking at this espresso makes you want it. Serious "crema appeal" for anyone who knows what to look for.
18g dose : 37g yield : 27 seconds
More of a traditional espresso blend, Brown Betty uses coffees from Africa and the Americas. After a wait of 11 days after roast, this espresso is clearly sitting in its "sweet spot." The aroma itself isn't overly noticeable, but the experience picks up dramatically once your lips reach the nectar. Rich, creamy mouthfeel resulting from a deeper roast profile makes this espresso go down with the consistency of warm raw honey. The African elements in the coffee bring out lively fruity qualities. The bag says to expect "Pomegranate and Dark Chocolate." I agree, but would add Brazil nut, and ripe peach to that flavor roll call. This is one of the most balanced and overall satisfying espressos I've had in a while. It's not a thriller, but it is a keeper.
