“Words have no power to impress the mind without the exquisite horror of their reality.” (Edgar Allan Poe) - With pen and paper in hand, and a writer contemplating on the type of Horror tale/story that would be most compelling and intense throughout, strong emphasis on the characters must be made a main priority, then comes the setting, atmosphere, suspense, conflicts, and resolutions. These are the five tales in the Horror genre yours truly VALUES most: 1) “Forced to face past demons.” - Jacob Singer from Adrian Lynne’s “Jacob’s Ladder” (1990) stands as the best example, and a man yours truly can personally emphasize with. 😄👊🏻 - 2) “So young, so frail, yet so determined in the face of unspeakable terror.” - Jennifer Corvino from Dario Argento’s “Phenomena” (1985) is such a character, one gifted with supernatural abilities and a knack for getting into trouble. 😏❤️ - 3) “My killer, or my guardian angel?” - An unbreakable oath to end one’s life when the time comes, that is the oath made by Rachel “Ray” Gardner and her killer/guardian angel, Isaac “Zack” Foster in Sanada Makoto’s “Satsuriku no Tenshi” (Angels of Death). 😈⛏ - 4) “Get out! Get out as soon as possible....” - A haunted house that proves to be the ultimate troll, in the least humorous and more terrifying way possible. That is the horror George & Kathleen “Kathy” Lutz and their children endure in Stuart Rosenberg’s “The Amityville Horror” (1979) - 5) “What is this?! What the hell is going on?!?!” - Pushed so far on the brink of insanity, not knowing what it is that’s haunting both you and your companions, that is the terrible fates of Luke and his childhood buddies in David Bruckner’s “The Ritual” (2017). 😱🤯 #HorrorCinema #CompellingTales #IntensitySuspenseAndTerror #FearOfTheUnknown #NothingToFearButFearItself #HorrorProtagonists https://www.instagram.com/mrgamer990/p/BpawtfGh68Q/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=1nj1kymtu7ky1
