How Matchups are Decided

Matchups are determined by two primary factors, and one secondary factor. 

Primary Factors

Alternate Universe

The determining of matchups based on Alternate Universes is to avoid unbalanced matchups based on who would win in a fight. 

Perceive Popularity 

The determining of matchups based on Perceived Popularity is to avoid unbalanced matchups based on preference or whom people are most familiar with. 

A Note on Matches and Perceived Popularity: 

I use the word “perceived” because I am just one person and will be making these matchups based on how popular I see a fic as. 

While the goal of this competition is mostly to see who would win a fight, votes based on preference or familiarity are inevitable, especially so as the competition progresses.

Hello all! As you may have noticed in the pinned post, the competition's start has been delayed. We've had a recent withdrawal from the competition roster, and as such I am currently looking for a new Kaz to fill our 24th spot.

Thank you for your patience and if you know of any Kaz who could stand a chance against a Sun Summoner, please do not hesitate to send a suggestion.

Into The Brekkerverse is a competition that is, at its core, about celebrating the creativity of this fandom! For engaging in fan creations and appreciating how unique two versions of the same character, even using the same basic premise, can be. 

Etiquette 

Be kind! Do not put down fics or authors.

The polls are not indicative of superiority, quality, or objective truth. It’s individual people making personal choices. 

All fics involved are incredible pieces of art made by passionate and imaginative individuals! 

Have fun! Be silly!

Voting  

Who Would Win in a Fight Or Personal Preference 

Voting based on who would win in a fight is preferable when the fight is balanced.

The above is more likely to be the case in the earlier rounds. However, as the Alternate Universes interact more with different Alternate Universes, actual fights are likely to become unbalanced.

In this case, voting based on preference (Which interpretation you enjoy/are drawn to personally for its unique take) is preferable to give each participant a decent chance.

Into the Brekkerverse Competition update:

As I now have an even number of participants in the competition, I believe I will be officially (and regretfully) closing nominations!

(unless an even number of authors miraculously get back to me)

At present, I am working on the illustrations for the poll banners and the descriptions for each participant. In a perfect world, I will be done with these two tasks by May 20th!

On that date, I am hoping to upload the list of participants and the list of matchups. See you then!!

Hello! Just to clarify, an author needs to give permission to use their Kaz somewhere public, right?

Yes!

The submission form has a spot for someone to tell me if they have gotten permission from the author of the fic the AU Kaz originates from.

Ideally, they will also provide me with a link to a tumblr ask or ao3 comment that can prove that they received permission, just in case someone would lie on the internet. Can you imagine?

Authors can also send me an ask if they are alright with having their Kazes participate.
