Sixteen Strangers - A Collaborative Musical
I have decided that I am going to write a musical!
Well, not just me, I have a plan to create a completely collaborative musical, hopefully with sixteen different composers. That sounds like a lot but that includes me so now I’m only looking for fifteen people!
I suppose you want to hear my idea before you get at all invested:
The name of the musical will likely be Sixteen Strangers.
The idea is that it takes place within the space of two train stations. There is a carriage on a train with sixteen people, each going to a different place, but all sharing the same means of transportation. Each song delves into why they are there and where they are going! This is a great opportunity for many different styles and genres of music to be brought together into one project, which is why I have my idea for all the different composers.
Composers will have almost complete artistic license though I will be in charge in most of the decisions, the actual song writing will be completely left to you!
A very quick summary of the characters:
A kid on their way to a rock band practice
A guy just trying to find a decent cup of coffee in town
A girl going out on a date
A woman going to a funeral
A father going to visit his daughter in hospital
A man who has just missed his stop
A man who is late for work
A girl on her way to school
A street artist on her way to her next place to paint
A guy on the way to an audition
A woman coming back from a one-night stand
A street performer headed to her usual performance place
A guy on his way to his 20th job interview that month
A guy on his way to his boring job
And I think I’ll keep number 16 a secret ; )
