Just came across the CRL Cordless Metal/Plastic/Wood Compound Miter Saw and I have to say I wish I had come across it before I had bought my Dewalt dedicated mitre saw, this is a dream for any contractor and job site situation. Totally mobile and being cordless no need for extension leads and in those cases on jobs when there is no power source at all. All though amided at the pro user this machine would be a very good addition to any home workshop for the busy DIY person.
If you are a shop fitter installing metal store front windows or a plumber installing shower screens then is will make your life just that bit easier, designed for the cutting of J-channel and aluminium shower rail. Then you just have to switch the blade and you have a normal compound mitre saw, CRL say you can expect to achieve 140 cuts of 1″ x 6 timber on just one charge. The set comes with Semi-high speed metal cutting blade and a 40 tooth carbide tipped wood cutting saw blade and just to keep things running smoothly a lubrication grease stick.
When cutting wood stock they have incorperated quick release clamps for holding the stock securely in place, the carbide tipped blade that comes with the saw makes really clean cuts on timber mouldings and eats up two by fours with ease. We like that they have included side extensions for the longer pieces of stock that can be a bind to hold and cut at the same time somtimes resulting in kick back. The back fence has sliding options and has adequate height for tall pieces being cut.
This bevel and miter saw makes a wide range of precision cuts: Straight 90, Bevels -2 to 47 degree. Detent miter stops are set at 0, 15, 22.5, 31.6, 45 and will extend to 48 degree both left and right. Detent override feature allows precise cuts for all angles.
