Compulsive shopping/buying, also known as CBD, is a disorder characterized by excessive shopping. This particular disorder leads to distress and impairment. Statistics show that 80% of women have this disorder, but mean and women spend almost equally. The four phases of CBD is anticipation, preparation, shopping, and spending. A person with compulsive shopping disorder would have anxiety before a purchase and a sense of relief following a purchase. They also spend a significant time shopping in their daily lives,which could lead to financial problems. Arguments over money are the main reason for relationships failing.
It is is said that this disorder can run in families. Statistics show that there are seventeen million compulsive shoppers that are American. It also says that the average U.S. citizen has ten thousand dollars in credit card debt. There is no particular state or city that compulsive shopping is prevalent in. The treatments of compulsive buying would be cognitive behavioral therapy, treatments centers, group therapy, and medication.
