Pokemon Card of the Day #1683: Computer Search (Boundaries Crossed)

The Boundaries Crossed set brought a new type of Trainer, a sub-group that only lasted for a few sets but mattered until they rotated out. The Ace Spec cards were usually very powerful Items, but you were limited to just 1 card of the type per deck. Many sets used them for obvious reasons, since the power of whichever was picked was worth it whenever you drew it or searched it out.

Computer Search was a remake of a card from the original Base Set with the obvious change that you only had 1 in a deck instead of 4. When playing it, you discarded 2 other cards from your hand as well, then searched your deck for a card and put it into your hand. The flexibility of this search without restrictions was really impressive. While some decks could consider things like Dowsing Machine, Scramble Switch, or more specific options like G Booster for Genesect EX or maybe even the occasional Rock Guard, Computer Search was probably the most common Ace Spec due to how good deck searching was.
