The Questions I was asked:
1. Where are you from? San Pedro, California. It’s a little port town on the southern end of the state, near Long Beach (home of the Queen Mary ship), and Los Angeles. My home town has been used for film locations in many tv shows and films, including True Blood, Torchwood, The A-Team movie, CSI, Titanic…you get the idea (the list is very long). There’s a massive shipping area where big ships bring in their cargo via huge metal containers. There’s also an oil refinery. Aside from the oh-so-picturesque industrial areas, there are old and new sections to the town that are always bustling with people, a ports-o-call area along the water with a fish market, restaurants and shops, and a couple of beaches (some have seals). The water’s brr cold though. It’s a beautiful, historical, colorful town. (I nearly forgot…lots of great Mexican food here.)
2. Winter, spring, summer or autumn. Autumn, especially a proper autumn with cooling temperatures, slightly overcast skies and leaves that turn brown, red, gold and yellow. Where I live now (Central Florida), we don’t see this sort of weather until January, if we do at all. Also with Autumn, we have Halloween. It’s a time for spooky kinds of fun, dressing up in costume, drinking hot cocoa or pumpkin flavored drinks and watching scary (and not so scary) movies that are popular that time of year.
3. What is your favorite actor/actress. I tend to change my mind about this every so often, so I’m just going to pick one each. For actor, Tom Burke (versatile, handsome, smart, mysterious, gut wrenchingly sad, funny, happy crinkles), and for actress, Judy Dench (versatile too, warmest smile and laugh, brilliant, kind, can play intimidating too…see Shakespeare in Love and Pride and Prejudice).
4. What makes you happy? Getting work done and understanding it (in my line of work I call it mental breakthroughs..lol). Silly jokes or pranks, my pets, friends or loved ones when they seem well, happy and/or content. Hearing a song I like on the radio. A cool, rainy day, and staying indoors with food, tea, books and or a movie or tv series list piled a mile high. A day at Coors Field (baseball park in Colorado) with my Dad on the rare occasion that I visit the right time of year. Sleeping in on a weekday off. The day before vacation.
5. Who makes you smile? Babies smiling and being silly at a table across the way at lunch. Finding a Christmas gift for someone, and knowing they’ll get a kick out of it. Humorous conversation with a cute guy. My cats begging for rubs and hugs. Seeing people pleasantly surprised (Diagon Alley being very recent at Universal Orlando.) Friends and family, especially if we haven’t seen each other in a while.
6. How do you spend your free time? Reading, listening to music, meditation, theme park hopping, making art, tv watching, movie catching, star gazing. I keep trying to see the ISS (Int’l Space Station) when it passes overhead, but it’s either cloudy or I miss it.
7. Are you a cat or dog person? Both. I’ve had both types of critters, and love em all. I currently have 2 cats, though I think my youngest is part dog (might’ve been one in a past life).
8. If you won the lottery, what is the first thing you would do? Pay off my student loans and condo, and give some money to my folks to help my mom on treatment for her health issues (a reaction to antibiotics given to her after back surgery wrecked her muscles, tendons and ligaments). Then I’d give money to my brother and his wife, and save the rest. I know, that’s more than one thing, but I wouldn’t do the first thing if I couldn’t do the rest.
9. In which country would you like to live? If not in the US, then the UK, New Zealand or Japan. I’ve been to Scotland in the UK and loved it! Yes it was cold and drizzly both times I visited, but the country is beautiful, like out of an old fairy tale, and everyone I met was very nice. I can’t wait to visit London next year…it might solidify my choice for the future. New Zealand and Japan both seem to have a great combination of landscapes and weather, which would remind me a little of Florida (beaches), and Colorado (where I grew up nestled against the Rocky Mountains).
10. Do you read/write fan-fiction? Which are your favorite authors? I do write fan-fiction, but not often. (It sucks, work takes up so much space in my brain.) If an idea hits me, I’ll quickly jot it down, and then flesh out the scenes and dialogue over days or weeks. A current favorite author of mine is Wynn on A03 (astreetcarnamedwynn here). I can see her fan-fiction focusing on Darcy Lewis and Bucky Barnes materialize before my eyes. When that happens, you know you’ve hit good storytelling.
My questions to YOU are:
1. What is your idea of winding down and relaxing?
2. What makes you laugh?
3. Who is your current favorite artist/band?
4. If you could be a superhero or villain, who would you be, why and what might you do?
5. Is there something you’d like to do but haven’t yet? (ex: learn the cello, surf, sing, visit Machu Puchu)
6. Tea or Coffee? What kind?
7. Snowy/Sunny/Rainy day? What would you be up to?
8. Any tv series recommendations? Why?
9. You spot a celebrity crush across a bar/party with friends. You suddenly catch his/her eye. What next?
10. Do you have a favorite style of dance? (ex: something you love to watch or can do yourself, or even gettin’ down while at home cleaning or chilling out)
11. Why did you read these questions if you’re not going to the quiz? Go on. Do the thing.
