I used craft epoxy to put this badge on years ago. No removing it without cutting it off or disintegrating my entire con bag, so I chose vandalism.

I finally got my Flatwoods Monster patch from @cryptidclub​! And it came with free cryptid stickers and a cat button! LOOKIT DOVER DEMON HE’S LIKE A SWEET LITTLE SPACE PUPPY!

Now that I finally have both the patches I ordered I can finally get to work on sewing them to my con bag. This is the placement I’m probably going to go with although I’ve considered putting Krampus in the upper left corner to make more room for future patches.

The geisha with the tea bag used to be part of one of my favorite shirts that I got from the Japanese American National Museum in Los Angeles. Under the picture it said “TEA SHIRT”. I considered keeping the caption but it wouldn’t make much sense on a bag. I also regret accidentally snipping off the name of the artist.

I also almost decided against adding the geisha for fear of someone accusing me of cultural appropriation. Especially since geisha are kinda a symbol of the sexualization and exoticization of Japan. But cultural appropriation is a complicated topic. I’ve come to the conclusion that it’s okay to add the patch but the reasoning is a little too much to get into right now. However, if anyone wants to talk about it I’d be happy to discus it in a separate post or in a PM. But I do feel the need to say this much: geisha are not prostitutes. Geisha do not have sex with their clients. The myth that geisha are prostitutes was started by actual prostitutes during the American Occupation after WW2 who told American soldiers that they where geisha to drum up more business. Ignorance is the enemy.

I got the Krampus patch because I have some German ancestry. It was made by Monsterologist on Etsy. You can find it here.

Now I just need some cat patches. I’ve seen some on twitter that were cute and I like this one from Silver Sprocket but maybe I should wait til the next con I go in case something unexpectedly catches my eye.

My ita bag for Otakon is as finished as it can be with the promise of the Artist Alley looming on the horizon. Unfortunately, I can't decide which way I like it better. Should I have Noicle ion top and Viktuuri on the bottom? Or the other way around?
