PLAYSCAPE [Syd Solomon “Playscape” 1975 acrylic and aerosol enamel on canvas 54 x 64 inches] In 1970, Syd Solomon, along with architect Gene Leedy, one of the founders of the Sarasota School of Architecture, built an award-winning precast concrete and glass house and studio on the Gulf of Mexico near Midnight Pass in Sarasota. Because of its siting, it functioned much like Monet’s home in Giverny, France. Open to the sky, sea, and shore with inside and outside studios, Solomon was able to fully solicit all the environmental forces that influenced his work. His friend, the art critic Harold Rosenberg, said Solomon’s best work was produced in the period he lived on the beach. “Syd Solomon: Concealed and Revealed” is a traveling museum retrospective on virtual view @theringling. #sydsolomon #solomon #concealedandrevealed #theringling #soloexhibition #museumexhibition #retrospective #camouflage #spraypaint #masking #abstraction #abstractpaintimg #artcollector #virtualview #playscape #geneleedy #sarasotaschoolofarchitecture #artgallery #chelseagalleries #nycart #modernart #estaterepresentation #berrycampbell (at Berry Campbell) https://www.instagram.com/p/B-qVfEPli2B/?igshid=izr1nci4wf7t
