currently writing a fic that's centered around lúcio's rise up against Vishkar called "We Move Together As One" on AO3. i wanted to use as many things lúcio, so they're all derived from his concept arts and past appearances. he teams up w/o two others to lead the revolution; more underneath.
Beta: Growing up on the streets in the midst of gang territory means learning the hard way for everything you do. He taught himself how to hack and dig up information from a young age, using it for his own advantage at first. When his legs were maimed while trying to escape a gang fight, he collapsed in a prosthetic shop ran by an Omnic called Scrap who fixed him up with the price being working there till he pays off his bill. Through her, he learned tech and even more hacking, beginning to use his skills for the better fight.
He's often blunt; he dislikes it when people try to loophole their way out of promises. He very quickly grew a heavy grudge against Vishkar when they promised better housing development, only to turn his community into a fearful ghost town under the premise that it was "simply too dangerous." This grudge turned into a full-fledged need for vengence when he found out the curfew bots murdered anybody who was out after curfew, one of the victims being his friend.
Using his hacking skills to erase profiles, delete security footage, dig up dirt, and reprogram Vishkar's bots, Beta has racked up a long list of crimes in Vishkar's eyes. Along with being able to traverse gang territory and not afraid to fight dirty, he's marked as dangerous to all Vishkar officials and is to be either taken in dead or alive. Beta has vowed to fight till his last breath, refusing to stop until justice has been served.
Signature: A grey skull.
Scout: An orphan that was extremely curious with copious amounts of free time, he very quickly learned every path and road in the favela. Accompanied by his speed and agility, he makes a living sending letters, packages, and more throughout town; for a more hefty price, he will deliver more sensitive packages through dangerous territory, as there is not a single shortcut or alley he doesn't know. Spray painting in his free time, his signature of an upside down feather is well known through the favela, often left behind on a vibrant, colorful piece.
Sweet and kind, he has a soft spot for children as he remembers what it was like growing up without much of a childhood. For that, he always carries a bag of sweets and makes time to play games. When Vishkar came and began to slowly drain the liveliness out of the favela, children began to fear going outside, often losing their parents and siblings due to Vishkar. Scout could not bear to stand on the side and watch.
As his name suggests, he scouts for information. He can get supplies from unsavory areas or stake out spots for days on end. In addition, with his knowledge of the favela, he tries to save anybody that is out after curfew, hoping to keep at least one more family together. Marked as elusive and troublesome, Vishkar wants to hunt him down and arrest him. Scout refuses to stop messing with their plans, wishing to see the children happy once more.
Signature: An upside down teal feather.
Ribbit: Also known as Lúcio Correia dos Santos, he is nearly friends with everybody in his neighborhood; by day, he works at a tech shop with his city friend Miguel. By night, he is a sensational musician, whether it be the lively block parties or flashy underground concerts. He loves to keep his community upbeat and cheerful, often helping out in any way he could. Raised by his two mothers and taking care of his five younger siblings, he always puts family first, often spending his hard-earned money on his siblings to let them enjoy their childhood.
His father and he were very close, but he left when Lúcio was young, pursuing a job opportunity that was never mentioned. He sent letters home that Lúcio read with his moms through the years. However, the letters stopped coming in one day, and that was the last he ever heard of his father. To remember him, Lúcio is following his footsteps in becoming a sound engineer, tinkering with the tech left behind in hopes to continue his work.
When Vishkar came in, they offered him a job due to his expertise in audio. He declined. Later on, he tried to persuade them to not enact a curfew. However, he quickly learned that the curfew was the least of his worries; people dying in the night, taken away for cheap-labor, rules restricting their freedom. Participating in protests and speeches, he was quickly targeted by Vishkar and nearly arrested if it weren't for Beta and Scout. Recruited in, he uses his sociable nature and strong voice to deliver incredibly effective speeches, urging people to rise up against Vishkar.
One day, Vishkar began to use sonic technology to suppress the protests. Lúcio, in an icy shock, recognizes the tech as his father's. Desperate to learn why, he hacks into Vishkar's servers to find out what the hell is going on. He finds out how he got the technology, but also found out more than he bargained for...
