After meeting Lestat, bestie reader isn't allowed to express any opinions on him in front of Armand. For obvious reasons, if bestie reader so much as implies a compliment, Armand crashes out. He can't get away with enacting physical violence, so he jumps to emotional manipulation. He starts acting like bestie reader just said she never wants to speak to him again. He's wounded.

However, if bestie talks about hating Lestat, Armand also crashes out. Their entire connection is based on mutual dislike. He's not going to share that. He's supposed to be the eternal thorn in her side not Lestat. So he's just as emotionally manipulative about it, because again, he's wounded.

as louis's best friend, bestie reader is ofc happy when louis is happy. but also, as a best friend, there is nothing more sickening than your best friend getting back together with the man from all of their most horrifically vile stories. i can't even imagine how she'd react to louis telling her he's going to go see lestat.

louis: i need to see him, i need to tell him that i know what he did for me.

bestie reader: and i need to book an appointment with a therapist, but i'm not specifying who it's for.

louis: so...does that mean you don't want to come with?

bestie reader: no i'm coming, i'm just nauseous about it.

the damage control charm offensive lestat would have to commit to in order to win bestie reader over after he learns that louis has no intentions of letting her go 😭.
