thinking about children of darkness armand getting overwhelmed by how much he cares about bestie. he can feel his adoration for her taking up more and more of him each day, and it repulses him.
when this frustration builds up inside of him, he goes to bestie and tells her that he should drain her, that every beat of her heart is a direct violation of the damnation he long ago accepted and his divine purpose.
and bestie has the audacity to see through all of it. she rightfully thinks he’s her eldritch horror now. he isn’t going to touch her in that way. so she just presses a chaste kiss to his lips, almost like an apology, and she tells him that she knows he isn’t going to hurt her.
armand hates himself for letting her see him so clearly, for not being able to prove herself wrong. he can’t do anything else about it, so he brings his mouth to the side of her neck.
he lets his fangs press into her skin with enough pressure to be uncomfortable without actually hurting her. bestie soothingly drags her fingers through his hair until he’s ready to continue on with their usual nightly routine.
i wonder if lestat’s desire to irk armand will over power his desire to make bestie happy enough for him to call out how overly sentimental and doting armand is around her.
realistically, lestat probably ends up awkwardly compromising by calling out armand for coddling bestie while also doing the same thing 💔
thinking about daniel turning bestie on impulse because he still doesn’t think the maker/fledgling bond can be that serious just for an unexpected affection for bestie to hit him like a truck.
daniel when fledgling bestie annoys him: leave me alone baby.
bestie: 🥺❔
daniel, suddenly punched in the gut with an influx of emotion: you’re my baby. you’re my baby and i love you so much.
Oh, she’s about to be the neediest fledgling ever. (I say this with affection. 🩷)
We see that newborn vampires get pretty overwhelmed when they’re first turned. I wouldn’t be surprised if fledgling!Bestie got extra clingy and pouty with Armand because she’s going through so much. He’s eating all of this up because he knows she’s just in a transitional period of being a vampire…and she’s very cute like this.
She’s just a baby, HIS baby. 💕
This is also the epitome of a first time parent vs second time parent stereotype (the vampire’s equivalent, anyway). Armand loves both of his fledglings but he was a hot mess when Daniel was made and here he is acting sweet over Bestie.
Bestie: Babe, I just ate. I don’t know why I’m so tired…
Armand: You’re still new to hunting, my dear. Here, drink from my wrist and I’ll carry you to the coffin for a nap.
Daniel: Funny, when I was turned, I don’t remember this amount of hand holding.
Armand, giving Daniel a “be nice to your sister” look: >:(
Fledgling!bestie is the neediest fledgling of all time, and Armand is having the time of his life spoiling her <3
Armand thinks that Bestie is the cutest thing in the world after she’s first turned. He still has to deal with some guilt after turning her, but it’s so hard to be angsty when the only thing Bestie wants is to drink blood and be next to him :((
She needs Armand to tell her how good she did after every hunt. It’s very serious. She’d get so pouty if Armand were to forget (he’d never). Ugh. She’s his baby :( and she loves him smm <3
Armand loves feeding her his blood to keep her nice and strong. He thinks it’s adorable that she has her own fangs now and can give him proper love bites now 🥰
Daniel rolls his eyes regularly and makes passive aggressive comments from time to time because no one babied him when he was first turned into a vampire. Being the oldest is no fun 💔
Armand lightly scolds him because Daniel needs to be nice to his sister :(( (Daniel’s a hater in front of Armand but he also loves vampire Bestie dearly. He disposes drained bodies for her when she’s too tired to do it herself 💗).
Also it’s so fun to think about Fledgling!Bestie becoming a little overly attached to her maker at first. It might be interesting to think about that concept with some of her other potential makers.
you know what might be a little fun? if daniel’s just the slightest bit scared of bestie at first.
he meets her, and she’s so well mannered and friendly. she calls him “mr. molloy” until he gives her permission to use his first name, she asks about his health, she invites him to join her for daytime meals, she followed him on the instagram page he only made to promote his writing that he never looks at.
but she can also be mean in a way that’s so productive.
daniel makes an insensitive comment about the racism louis has likely had to endure over the years. before daniel can blink, she’s reading him to filth in a way that manages to sting a little. and she somehow does this without openly insulting him?? and let’s not get started on her reaction to “rent boy” comment.
she’s so bubbly it’s genuinely startling to watch the switch. a part of daniel feels weirdly inclined to keep her on his side. she also has two vampires wrapped around her finger. that’s kind of scary 😭
daniel was definitely looking over at her after exposing armand for being a liar like 👀
while i definitely see armand as the jealous type in all the au's, I think this is especially amplified in the children of darkness universe due to his celibacy and also how he's been conditioned to view happiness and pleasure as something that vampires do not deserve. he finds his first semblance of actual hope in bestie, but it's constantly being threatened by the presence of lestat and nicki.
(anyways he and bestie are definitely having jealous sex after he sees lestat kiss her cheek, tyvm)
yes. exactly. children of darkness armand is absolutely feral. he’s been restraining himself for so long, and he’s repulsed with himself for finally giving into his desires.
the internal push and pull has created so much tension inside of him that he’s always one ill timed comment or interaction away from snapping. (lestat will definitely be the catalyst 😭).
anyway, after armand accepts that he’s going to pursue bestie, everything involving her becomes so much more serious. he’s completely committed to her before he even starts being particularly nice to her. lestat and nicki are only obstacles threatening to take him from her 💔
armand sneaks into bestie’s bedroom in the middle of the night after watching her and lestat be all giggly together at the theater. and then they end up sleeping together because armand needs to feel close to her in a way no one else is 🥰
after that, physical intimacy becomes armand’s solution for everything. he’s a little jealous of lestat holding bestie’s hand? he’s overwhelmed by disobedient underlings? he sees bestie wearing a piece of jewelry he bought for her? they’re hooking up over everything.
i know we’ve talked about armand pouting, but i feel like there’s bestie pouting potential. she’s so used to being the center of loumand’s world. she never has to fight for their attention or worry about feeling unwanted.
so when she feels like their attention might be shifting, even if it’s only for a moment, she gets so sad :(( so ofc she gets a little moody, her eyes getting all big and sad. literally ‘🥺’ personified.
louis and armand notice immediately, and they don’t make it easy for her.
louis teases her by making a big show of coddling her. he squeezes her to him and presses kisses all over the side of her face while telling her that he knows, it’s so hard :( clearly he doesn’t love her enough :((
armand’s a little less nice about it. he doesn’t mean to, but he does find some satisfaction in bestie being so concerned about losing him. he isn’t going to try to make her insecure (he loves her too much for that) but he is going to revel in her pouting.
she’s also so cute when she’s a little sad. like a rabbit angrily thumping their feet to indicate that they’re unhappy. he’ll grab her chin so that she has to look at him and tell her not to pout. she’s always insisting that she’s not a child and yet she’s still willing to behave like one because of how spoiled she is.
armand still babies her, though, and he secretly enjoys the excuse to be extra affectionate while exaggeratedly lamenting her existence so that she doesn’t pick up on how much he means what he’s saying.
children of darkness armand would be so depressed whenever he sees lestat and bestie being affectionate. nicki is a bit justifiable since they are siblings (though he's on thin ice too) but lestat and bestie are two attractive people and lestat's preferences are "non discriminating," so who's to say they won't eventually get together?
there's also the possibility of lestat turning bestie before he can, and armand would genuinely tweak out if the two of them had a maker/fledgling bond.
I think armand sees lestat as a threat to both his way of life and his relationship with bestie. that man is out to take everything from him in his mind, even if lestat doesn't particuarly care for him 😭
bestie takes lestat’s hand while they’re walking home at night without thinking twice about it because she’s been casually holding lestat’s hand her entire life. armand wants to throw up.
i feel like armand would have an existential crisis every time he sees lestat press a kiss to her forehead or pull her into a warm hug as a greeting. he’s dwelling on the insufferable longing that comes from being in proximity to the sun without ever feeling its warmth shine on him.
there are very few things that permit him to feel warmth, and lestat has the one person that makes his existence feel worthwhile in a way that is so genuine and mundane.
this is the only situation in which armand gives nicki a pass. their closeness still makes his heart ache, but it’s a little less concerning. lestat’s relationship with gabrielle also has armand side eyeing bestie and nicki a bit 😭
seriously though why is lestat so mean :( he wants to take everything that means anything to him at all :(( armand has done nothing to deserve this mistreatment 🥺
bestie definitely picks up on the fact that armand is a little more tense when they’re with other people than he is when they’re alone. she doesn’t necessarily know that this tension is a manifestation of his angst and jealousy, but she knows it’s something.
so she’ll try to be reassuring when she can. she’ll reach for his hand sometimes, the side of her palm brushing against his if she can’t justify holding his hand or she’ll directly speak to him. and then she’ll be extra nice to him when he visits her in the middle of the night :))
This is especially heartbreaking when you remember that Marius presented Venice!Bestie as a gift/pet to Amadeo. Her coming to his home ended up being an insurance policy. He can treat Amadeo as harshly as he wants as long as Amadeo’s plaything is there to soothe him after.
Getting more severe, Marius might hear that the pair had some sort of disagreement and offer to teach Amadeo on how to punish Venice!Bestie. Amadeo would, of course, refuse. It was just quarrel, he’ll talk to her later. Marius would be fine with that and make some remark about how sweet Amadeo is with his dearest pet.
Marius would know how Amadeo guilty feels about seeing Venice!Bestie as someone who belongs to him. He would not let up on using that guilt since both of them know that he’s not treating Venice!Bestie like the artist she is…and that’s the way Marius likes it.
Wait :( Marius using Bestie’s presence as a way of justifying anything he does to Amadeo.
After punishing Amadeo or pushing him to service one too many men in one night, Marius can sympathetically smooth back his hair or lightly kiss the side of his face and say “why don’t you go take care of your pet?” instead of apologizing or checking in on him.
Amadeo knows that the comment means he won’t be bothered again for some time. At least for the rest of the night, maybe even longer. Once he feels like he can move again, he makes his way to Bestie.
The concept of ‘ownership’ here is really interesting. Amadeo’s views on someone ‘belonging’ to someone else are complicated and multifaceted.
He knows that he belongs to Marius, and he knows that this means that Marius’s needs and wants are sometimes more significant than his own.
However, Amadeo also believes that there’s a bond that comes with ownership, a connection that can be deep and loving in its own way. Marius is also the one that saved him and continues to take care of him.
So when Amadeo looks at Bestie as someone that ‘belongs’ to him, he’s focusing on that bond. She’s his to look after and love. Also, because of the situation that they’re both in, Amadeo ‘possessing’ Bestie is the closest that they can come to being together.
Because of his personal experiences and the nuances of their situation, viewing Bestie as his is easy to justify to an extent. By keeping her, Amadeo can keep her from ever becoming one of the assets Marius loans to others. Amadeo also knows that he’d never hurt her physically.
I also think there would be something kind of innocent about the way that Amadeo sees his ‘official’ relationship with Bestie. Marius brought her home as a favor to her father and entrusted her to Amadeo. Very little has belonged to him throughout his life, and now someone that’s so wonderful is his :))
Amadeo appreciates her art. He’s genuinely happy that she gets to practice something she loves and that her life is easier than his. But he doesn’t want to let go of her. Ever.
Marius definitely offers to teach Amadeo how to properly punish Bestie as a way of reminding Amadeo that even if they’re happy, they’re inherently on unequal footing.
And if Amadeo is so content seeing Bestie as his more than he sees her as an artist, maybe Amadeo is willing to make her do things she doesn’t want to do. Maybe Amadeo isn’t as different from Marius as he’d like to think he is…which means Amadeo has no right to be resentful.
how depressed do we think children or darkness era armand can be?? i love situations where bestie has to comfort him but i feel like this version of armand is working so hard at suppressing every feeling ever ™️
im up deviling my minions and i just love the thought of sister-wives bestie and daniel. they give off the most intense "my subs have unionized" evergy ever and armand deserves to (lovingly) suffer

bestie and daniel would have so much fun being sister-wives. they’d terrorize armand every day.
armand has never been more called out in his life. he pouts and stares at them with his giant, sad eyes when he really wants to get his way. daniel and bestie will point out that they know exactly what armand’s doing.
they openly talk about it in front of armand and everything. however, because of how loved armand is, the big heartbroken eyes still usually work 💔
When you think about it, Armand turning Bestie after turning Daniel is like when people get a puppy for their mopey senior dog and the dogs end up being bffs. Like, Daniel ends up not doing too good after being a vampire for a while, then Armand just shows up with a newly turned Bestie and all of a sudden, Daniel gets a second wind.
Daniel's trying so hard not to baby her but he's just so determined to be a good older brother so she won't have to navigate vampirism without help. It's like an older german shepherd looking after a cavalier king charles spaniel puppy. :(((
I love this for them 😭 Bestie is like the vampire equivalent of an SSRI.
Daniel seems to love vampirism, but adjusting to an immortal life isn’t easy, even if that person really does want to be a vampire. He can also be kind of grumpy. By the time he’s falling into his first real slump, Armand comes home with a freshly turned Bestie :)
At first, Daniel can’t believe Armand decided that this was the perfect time to permanently bring her into this. Kind of like a senior dog that’s uninterested in the puppy that just came home.
Daniel ends up warming up to vampire Bestie quickly. Her presence makes everything so much more fun and worthwhile.
I also think Daniel would be more inclined to not get too existential around Bestie. He’s not faking happiness or anything, he’s just focusing on more positive things to not freak her out, which ultimately helps him be less stressed out as well.
He’d really enjoy taking her hunting. Armand tries to get them to be more subtle and cautious. Daniel’s more inclined to celebrate her creativity.
Daniel doesn’t want to coddle or baby her. He doesn’t see himself as a nurturer, but he wants to be a good big brother so badly. She doesn’t need to struggle through vampirism on her own. He’s there :)) (so is Armand, but this isn’t about him 🙄).
This is so older german shepherd who lowkey lost interest in his favorite things until his family saddled him with a charles spaniel puppy that’s always bringing him toys and waiting for him at the door for their afternoon walks <33
armand looking at 18th century bestie like this the first time he sees her at one of lestat's shows. im gnawing at the bars of my enclosure
ugh. deeply obsessed with this. armand only came to the show to find lestat, who has been living so recklessly as a vampire. his thoughts are completely focused on what will need to be done to make sure that lestat’s disregard for the great laws don’t reflect poorly on his ability to maintain control over the vampires that find themselves in paris.
he scans the crowd of theater patrons as they begin to fill the orchestra seating. he barely registers the shifting bodies as people until his eyes land on bestie. for a moment, armand forgets that there was ever a point to the theater, to anything before her.
armand is intrigued in a way that he immediately recognizes as dangerous. attraction is already a vulnerability he’s cautious of, and to feel it for someone so clearly human…no. he will not permit himself to feel anything for her.
but the harder he tries to will himself to look away and forget her, the more he finds himself studying every part of her that he can see. the delicateness of her features, made even softer by the theater’s low lighting; the color of her dress and the way that it suits her skin; the pendant on her neck (was the necklace a gift? if so, from who? a family member? a lover?).
the audience settles. the curtains are drawn. the show is starting, and armand still hasn’t looked away from her.
he’s repulsed by his interest, by his weakness. what right does some mortal girl have to tempt him in a way that defies his way of life?
armand needs to fix this before it spirals into something beyond brief infatuation. perhaps he’ll find her after the show and drain her, turning her into something that can no longer affect him.
maybe he’ll permit himself to indulge in some conversation first. she seems to be in attendance alone. armand could approach her gently, charm her with his words, and then drain her once they’re in a private alleyway. then again, it might be safest to just follow her silently and strike at the first opportunity.
armand knows that to end her life would be the right course of action to take, but the tension building inside of him doesn’t remind him of bloodlust at all.
he slips into her thoughts without fully meaning to. he tells himself that he’s only being thorough. perhaps her thoughts will give him necessary information on the kinds of people that might notice her absence. after all, she seems like the kind of person that would be missed.
that’s when armand learns that bestie’s far from alone…she’s here with lestat. armand feels something in his chest crack.
it’s alright, armand tells himself, if lestat cares for her then there’s value in her life. at least for now.
he’ll approach her after the show after all. he’ll be tactful, alluring and worth noticing for a game of cat and mouse that’s much more interesting than a meal.
armand spends the entirety of the show watching her, pretending that the only reason he’s interested in her at all is because she can be used to draw lestat towards him.
coincidentally, he also spends most of the show imagining scenarios in which he wins her affection and steals her from lestat entirely.
Obviously, the best course of action here is to have Armand where increasingly more nonsensical disguises à la Count Olaf so he can spy on Daniel.
This has me in tears 😭 Would this make Daniel like the Baudelaire children in the sense that he’s the only one that can see through Armand’s costumes??
Imagine Louis and Daniel catching up at a late night diner. Their waiter is just Armand in a pair of glasses and a wig. Louis doesn’t understand why Daniel is being so hostile towards the waiter who is just trying to clean off the tables in his section.
I think if Bestie met Gabrielle (who was written to be cold and uncaring) after she bonded a little bit with Lestat, she’d have a moment of, “Oh…that’s why he likes it when I act like a mom to him.” Idk, I think it’d make her a little pitiful (?) towards Lestat.
Louis just rolls his eyes affectionately. He thought Lestat wanted to be her older brother? Why is he acting like a little kid who just got a gold star?
(I’ve realized that some point, every male vampire in IWTV acts like a toddler who was promised candy if he behaves when running errands with his mom. 😭)
The thought of Bestie meeting Gabrielle and then looking at Lestat like “oh it’s mommy issues” is killing me 😭 The assumption isn’t even mean or snarky. If anything, she feels a little sad for Lestat.
Louis might side eye them a bit. Lestat needs to pick a dynamic to have with Bestie and stick with it 😭 ‘mom-little-sister-sometimes-crush’ is TOO much.
They all do kind of act like little kids waiting to be rewarded for behaving well while running errands at some point 💔 It’s because when they’re not getting a nice pat on the head and treats, they feel like someone’s mad at them :(
do you guys think we’ll be seeing enough armand this season?? i’m so excited for the new season and to see lestat’s story be developed but also i need to know so much about how armand has been 😭 and i NEED to see him and daniel develop their relationship
the way euphoria sidelined so many of their important characters and the fact that armand seems to be wandering through the backrooms with no context is worrying me a bit 💔
