Ahh I’m so impatient with our conception journey send help

Where we are for this month: (maybe a bit TMI)

We’re post ovulation and hopefully just past fertilization but no guarantee. My nipples are really sore and seem slightly enlarged(?) but I’ve never been off the pill so that may be normal for my luteal phase.

I have high hopes but it’s too early to be sure. Ahhh we have to wait like another week before we can get an accurate result from a pregnancy test.

big little stuff happening in life right now

I’m actually holding down this new job and doing well and liking it. It does stress me out a bit and I spend too much time worrying about my caseload of kids but that’s empathy for you babeyy. It’s all good I’m working on work life separation (and newly diagnosed OCD) in therapy.

And!! I went to pain management recently to talk about scheduling my radio frequency ablation that I get every 6 months and found out they can do it under ultrasound instead of live xray which is kinda huge because now partner and I can start our conception journey to have a child sooner. AND I can get pain relief during pregnancy?? I’m so fucking excited I’ve wanted this for so long please send all the baby magic my way

My first period in 10 ish years is hitting me like a truck. I think I passed the worst of it after a couple days though. I was able to enjoy smoking weed for the first time in a while. Now we wait for the next ovulation.

Smoking weed decreases your fertility. If you were actually serious about this, you would quit. THC can inhibit ovulation, alter your hormone levels, and change the quality of your eggs.

Bit of an accusatory tone.

I did some research on this. There's very little clinical evidence, and what there is is kind of inconclusive. It's actually more likely to affect sperm than eggs, sometimes causing "lazy" sperm. An abundance of anecdotal evidence on pregnancy Reddit threads also cited dozens of people who had no trouble conceiving, and some were heavy weed users.

If we struggle after the first few months, we'll cut out weed completely. But our weed use is pretty minimal (small amounts 1-3 times a week in the evening).

Hey don't be discouraged, it can take a couple months for your fertility to normalise after long term hormonal contraceptive use. Also idk if you know this or not but apparently pre-natal vitamins taken even before pregnancy can help conception. All the best!

Thank you <3 I hope my fertility is nice and high soon! I’m so impatient. But it’ll happen when it’s meant to happen, I suppose. I’m on prenatal vitamins for a bit since my doc recommended it!

update on our conception journey:

we had our first negative pregnancy test today. I will say there is a caveat and it's that it was an early-detection test which can sometimes not detect the hcg levels even if you are pregnant so it's not 100% a guarantee

I feel disappointed but also less anxious. I've been OBSESSING over this whole thing and it feels like I at least have some sort of answer for now so I can relax for a while (until I miss my period, or until next ovulation comes around)

i wanna smoke weed if i get my period but i'll wait until it's steady because there's such a thing as implantation bleeding too

i've just had so many body changes especially aching enlarged breasts that i'm like please don't let this be a normal cycle hormone thing, please let it be a baby thing

also i realized if i don't change my name legally in time, my deadname will be on my kid's birth certificate which is gross

but anyway yeah
