Story time!
I was video-chatting with Kaspar in the era when I first had a new partner named Alistair (who used they/them at the time.) Iska, Kaspar's other partner, was also present.
Kaspar started asking about my new partner. I told them a few things, "Oh they're pretty and witty and blonde, so definitely my type" but then Kaspar had to step out of the room. Then Iska, because she'd owned rats before, started asking me about my new additions, Mycroft and Sherlock. I start happily telling Iska about how they've been adjusting.
Well, Kaspar walks back in, assuming that I'm still talking about my new partner, and they hear me say,
"Oh, yeah, they're kind of shy, they still jump when I touch them, but it's easier for me to get them into their cage these days." And Kaspar's startled countenance was like;
