I went to a Lord of the Rings & Hobbit music performance where an orchestra played some of the songs from both series
The music was good and WILLIAM KIRCHER (the actor who played Bifur in the Hobbit (the dwarf with the axe in his head) was occasionally talking about his experience behind the scenes which was super cool
But they had a MASSIVE screen behind the orchestra playing some videos while the music was being performed. But instead of idk using the ACTUAL CLIPS FROM THE MOVIES or something like that
THEY USED AI.
They used AI generated videos in the background. There were some videos that were an attempt to look like scenes from the movies, but they were horrible!!
Disregarding my negative opinions on using AI (which would be a whole other rant so I'm not gonna go into it), it just looked bad in general.
There were multiple attempts at the Balrog, but it just DID NOT look like the Balrog AT ALL. A video of a horse that I'm pretty sure was meant to be Shadowfax had him grow a third front leg. In the actual story, there are 9 Nazgul but in the AI video there were FOURTEEN shown on screen. The Shire didn't look like the Shire in all the AI videos they used (at one point they showed the Shire at night with torches across a path that slowly went into the mountains, but the mountains were lit up like city lights at night)
Really ruined my whole mood for the thing. I know I sound like I'm just complaining and I'm sure there's not a lot of people who will actually see this post since I don't have many followers, but I just felt disappointed the whole time and I highly suspect I have ADHD, so I was really struggling to focus on the music because I was annoyed AND the screen was so big that even if I was staring right at the conductor, the screen took up most of my vision so I struggled to focus on the genuinely amazing music.
I hope whoever approved that is fired because IT WASN'T JUST ME WHO WAS COMPLAINING (I heard multiple people complaining during the intermission for drinks/food)
Rant over thanks for reading hope you have a good day/night! :]
