Noname Nocase
“Ayo, Wyd?” - 8:16 pm EST - Sunday, August 22
The first time I have heard of Noname was I’m guessing when J.Cole released “Snow on tha Bluff” lmao, but other than that is when she had a feature of Saba’s “Bucket List Project” and I was really interested in the female rapper since my playlist lacks it. It took me up till today to finally listen to one of her projects and I’m really glad I did.
Noname is obviously inspired by the soulful and conscious hiphop legends of the late 90s and early 2000s and I was loving every second of it. By the first track I was already hooked by the smooth instrumentals and interesting flow she carries herself on. She has a way to fit a lot of words in a bar while changing the speed of her delivery to accommodate the bar. I love it. Her voice is smooth and humble but still confident in the topics she brings up. It’s like she’s trying to enlighten me in the nicest way possible. With Noname’s calm vocals and smooth soulful instrumental, this is definitely not a skip. Fresh.
Track List:
1. Self
2. Blaxploitation
3. Prayer Song
4. Window
5. Don’t Forget About Me
6. Regal
7. Montego Bae
8. Ace
9. Part of me
10. With you
11. no name
TLDR: smooth style makes this worth your time.
(Side note: I don’t like the idea of number ratings so I’ll just show how many of the tracks from the album I added to my personal Spotify playlist, just for reference.)
