We weren’t really in the mood to spend time sitting on the beach, mainly because I’m more of a swimmer than a sitter and the waves of the Atlantic can create some pretty serious riptides on Condado Beach. You actually see signs everywhere that are explicit in cautioning you against swimming. When we were here in February, we were chatting with a lady who originally hailed from Australia and grew up learning how to swim on Bondi Beach, and while she normally ignores the riptide warnings in the US (especially on the East Coast), she took one look at the waves here and actually heeded the suggestion.

We did want to spend a little time on the beach, so we stood and chit-chatted for a good 45 minutes to take in the view, get our feet a little wet, and enjoy the salt air.
