Good Games that Destroyed Their Franchises.

Sometimes an awful game can ruin their franchise. This has happened multiple times previously. Unfortunately it is also possible a good game to kill a franchise. Whether they just don’t sell or didn’t like the changes, all the titles on this list ended up doing a lot of damage to their series.

Max Payne 3

Rock star made the third entry in Max Payne series and it was awesome. But other developers would dare to turn max into a washed up old has been with a serious drinking problem. The game was solid with lots of interesting locations around the world. Unfortunately the game wasn’t a huge hit like rock star’s other franchises. It didn't even come close to selling anywhere near the likes of red dead redemption and grand theft auto. Some gamer’s loved this game and they were very sad about the fact that this amazing franchise is pretty much dead these days.

Burnout Paradise

Can you believe that the excellent burnout paradise kill the entire series? This game took the destruction of this arcade racing game and put it into an open world. It turned out to be a great idea and gamer’s loved it. However the burnout games never became as popular as publisher EA would have hoped. That’s why they made developer criterion make need for speed games instead cause those games always sells a lot based on the name. However the terrible reviews for need for speed payback will put the burnout franchiser back in the picture.

Splinter Cell: Blacklist

The Splinter Cell series is used to be one of our favorites. We absolutely love the invention/adventure of Sam Fisher and his latest games Splint Cell blacklist was pretty great too. However that was five years ago and we haven’t seen a sequel ever since. Splinter Cell blacklist like gamer’s who chooses between an aggressive or stealth play styles. You could tackle missions anyway you off it and we really like the freedom of choice. The game got good reviews and lots of praise. Unfortunately it underperformed commercially and Sam Fisher went dark ever since.

Condemned 2: Bloodshot

The first condemned game mixed psychological horror with an interesting fighting system. It was almost as if you were playing the video game version of the movie Seven. Unfortunately the sequel took the series in a new direction. It focused less on crime scene investigation and more on action. The fans didn't like this change and Condemned: 2 bloodshot was a commercial failure. However it's still a very good game with lots of great moments. It’s such a pity this series died because we’re really would have like to have seen a new condemned on this generation of consoles.

DmC: Devil May Cry

We know the developers completely messed up the look of Dante in Dmc Devil May Cry. They turn an awesome character into an obnoxious emo punk. However the game Dmc devil may cry is actually a good game. The hack and slash action is great and the levels are really original. The game also has some extremely memorable boss fights. Unfortunately fans of this series didn’t give the game a chance and it flopped horribly. If this game returns it will not feature this new version of Dante.

F.E.A.R. 3

Fear is another great series mixed of horror with amazing gun play. This game gives us a very scary story of a little girl with supernatural powers. It had a lot of jump scare and quite moments. However the developers turned the 3rd sequel into something that resembled call of duty. Well the game wasn’t bad. While the game wasn’t bad it misses the horror elements of the first two games. Fans didn’t like this new direction for the series and it under performed commercially. Such a shame! Because F.E.A.R definitely had a lot going for it.

Doom 3

Doom 3 is often falsely regarded as terrible game that destroyed the series. While the game did put the series on ice for 12 years it certainly wasn’t treble. The developers simply turned the run and gun action game into something that was much lower pace. It showed of some amazing graphical effects of the time and we really got lost in the atmosphere. The game got rebooted in a great way in 2016. This version of the game was fast pace and brutal like the first 2 games. Sometimes it’s better to never change a winning team.

Prince of Persia: The Forgotten Sands

Prince of Persia the forgotten sands with the last entry in the famous action adventure series. The game took the series back to its roots with lots of platform and interesting time mechanics. However fans weren’t interested anymore because assassin’s creed was taking off at the same time. Assassin’s creed was another game by UB soft the pretty much sold prince of Persia’s lunch. Publisher decided to focus on that series instead of another Prince of Persia series. The poor prince was left behind in 2010 and UB soft decided to develop nine more assassin’s creed game after that.

Watch dogs 2

Watch dogs is another great series that probably won’t see any sequel soon. The first game wowed gamer’s with amazing trailers but it actually stand out a lot less impressive. UB soft took the criticism to the heart and made a lot changes to the sequel. Watch dogs 2 featured a new protagonist and was a lot off beat series entry. However the damage has already done. And gamer’s didn’t bother to buy it. Such a shame! Because watch dogs 2 was a great new direction to the series.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided

We still cry ourselves to sleep every night knowing we won’t get a new Deus Ex game any time soon. The game got rebooted back in 2011 with the excellent dues ex human revelation however publisher Enix really messed up while promoting the game with a ridiculous pre- order system that soured a lot of gamer’s. Dues Ex Mankind still turn out to be a great game even if it’s a little short. And the Dues Ex franchise is in ice ever since
