Woot! Finally above 40° consistently this week. Fired 20 Tumblers Tuesday. Cooled Wednesday. Unloaded 20 tumblers today, reloaded 22 tumblers and they are firing over night. Will cool tomorrow. Started glazing first load of tumblers. 6 tumblers glazed completely, 6 more need 1 more coat of yellow orange, sadly my Yellow Orange is one of the glazes that did not come in my glaze order last week. I’m surprised at how well this first cast worked. Thanks @stormieburns for giving me some slip to test with. I cast for way too long and started with a completely dry mold, which casted way thicker than I was expecting. Since this is clay bisque fired to #cone04 , I assumed that it wouldn’t be as efficient at wicking away water from the slip as plaster, but it’s not enough for me to worry about. . I need to learn how best to cast using bisque clay instead of plaster, but I’m gonna be thinking about what kinds of #slipcast molds I can print because there is so much more I can do if I can print molds instead of pouring plaster. . #ceramics #3dprinting #PenlandWinter2018 #penlandschoolofcrafts (at Penland School of Crafts)
